The theme for Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful this month is winged things. Our sweltering temperatures have me thinking of cooler times. The warm glow of a luminary is something I associate with the approach of Christmas, so I sought a Christmas bird image.
Stamped the cardinal from Christmas Classics on Vellum twice in Staz-On black. Colored with Copics. Cut 12 x 12" Olive to 51/4 x 12, then scored at 2 15/16" intervals four times, leaving a 1/4" tab for attaching. Cut two windows with the middle sized Nestie rectangle in opposite sides of the luminary. Ran the paper through the Holly Sizzix EF, matching the pattern as best I could (I left the already embossed edge off of the platform of my BigShot as I ran it through the rollers to prevent lines on the pattern). Adhered the colored image inside the luminary and taped shut. Ran Soft Suede and Olive through TH Alterations Festive Greenery, sponged the holly and pine cone and attached, popping one of the holly leaves. Added Kaiser Kraft red pearls, crochet trim and done.

This is so pretty. I am just over the moon for this embossing folder-you made it look so awesome for the backdrop of that gorgeous cardinal. Beautiful card Marzi.

Your luminary really does cool things down. It's soooo pretty with the holly embossing and that beautiful bird image. Love it!

This is gorgeous! I grew up in New Mexico and everyone there lined their walkways with Luminarias at Halloween and Christmas. I haven't been to your house, but I am figuring you have about 78 more of these to do! Hugz! This is a great idea and really pretty. Hugz!!!
