Because it is Memorial Day, I wanted to make a card honoring those who gave their lives for our freedoms. It doesn't matter what country you are from, there were men and women who gave their lives in service for their country.
I looked thru the lovely gallery of Feature Stamper SusanBri and saw so many beautiful nature cards and amazing CAS cards. But I decided to use this wonderful Christmas card for my inspiration:
Judy gave us distressed edges for our technique learning challenge this week. I have never used a mechanical tool for distressing, but have wondered if they are easier to use than the way I distress my edges. I just use my fingernail and chalks or inks along the edges.
I hope that you are all enjoying a lovely Memorial Day and just take a short moment to remember those who gave all today. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Wonderful patriotic card honoring our incredible heroes! I love the way you did the blue around the eagle, flag, and outline..it really shows off your image! Your distressing looks great on this! Sandpaper is perhaps another distressing method you might try..one of those sanding blocks? I have a Tim H tool and that works great but your methods sound just as good.

As an aunt to two Marines I am so proud of their choice to serve yet so grateful that God did not call them when deployed. Your wonderful CASE of Susan is a timely reminder that not all families are so lucky. Thank you for making and posting this wonderful card.

What a wonderful patriotic card Kathleen!! I think we used the same embossing folder on our cards ! I use a little gadget by Heidi Swapp called the "edge distresser". It works like a charm. I also use the "precision file set" by Basic Gray sometimes. But the Heidi Swapp gadget works the best for me.
