I needed to make some cards for young boys for the Card Ministry. I don't do kids cards often and have very few appropriate stamps. I thought this digi kite scene might appeal to boys. I decided try paper piecing on it, which was a lot more work that I expected since I made 8 of this card. But I'm pleased with the results. My inside sentiment is on white cs on a layer of the blue plaid dp.
Coloring the image took a lot of time also, since I had to color 8. That's why there's just a suggestion of color for most of the image. None of my die cuts fit the circle, so I used a Fiskars template to cut it out.
I hope this qualifies for Colorful Complements WT375 as I used orange and blue. The added green made a triad from the color wheel.
I added keyword "child" and hope this starts a trend because I have trouble searching for kids card ideas. I find lots of cards with children/boys/girls as the image, but few that are actually made for a child. A search for baby cards gets better results, but I'm looking for cards for kids between about 5 and 12 y/o.
I knew there had to be a technique challenge for paper piecing, but I had to go back to 2005 to find it at TLC39.
