What a cute challenge! I love dogs. Don't have any at present but I've had lots of memorable ones. Like Freckles, the bird dog. He was something. One time a neighbor went hunting and apparently Freckles drug home part of the trophy and hid it in the flower bed. For days we couldn't figure out what that smell was.
Anyway, this little dog I'm calling Spot (or should I say, Spots) from DRS Designs was originally all white but I added the dots and tan spots. This started out to be CAS and it was going really well and I guess that should have been my first clue that it was all about to head south. I had made a pretty quick background on the tan c/s using just one stripe of the woven plaid border. I was attaching Spot to his layer and I dunno...something that looked like ink...don't know where it came from...smudged the upper right WHITE corner of Spot's little box. I was able to save Spot by cutting him out and attaching him to another white layer (I washed my hands first). But by then it wasn't really CAS any more.
So I punched the lower edge of the greeting panel then used pinking shears on it. I used a 1" circle punch on the button ribbon slide and threaded thru some left over thin strips of bg. I attached it to a slightly larger die cut circle and my 4.25 x 5.50 card was finished. Not exactly CAS but not too involved either.
Thanks so much for looking! One of my birds is sick and not doing very well so he has to go back to the Dr. He actually learned to bark from the last dog we had. Poor little guy...he's 28 yrs old and we've had him almost that entire time.

CAS or not...it's still an adorable card, Julie! Love the layers, the border punch, and the button! Of course the spotted pup is the most adorable and what a clever sentiment!

I know what you mean about things not always going the way you had planned them..oh well..this "spotty" card turned out great! Your little doggie is adorable and I like the way you did the circle accent at the bottom..they all go so well with the plaid bg. Hope your bird is OK.
