If, like me, you've put off Christmas cards until the last possible minute, this is about as clean and simple as it gets! This card is festive yet easily mass-produced and could also be adapted to any occasion with the appropriate paper. Would also be great for thank you cards. Although it didn't photograph all that well, it's pretty IRL.
Dissatisfied with the holiday DPs at the "big three" crafting stores, I decided to go with gift wrap I had lying around. The idea of using Christmas wrap on holiday cards appealed to me....
Here's what I did:
- cut/score heavy card stock bases to finished size of 4.25 x 4.25
- cut layering panels to finished size of 3.75 x 3.75
- cut gift wrap into manageably-sized strips slightly wider than 3.75 (Cutting paper that keeps wanting to curl up is the most testy part of this process--if you cut strips ahead of time and leave them lying out, they will eventually flatten.)
- cut gift wrap into squares slightly larger than the finished layering panel size of 3.75 x 3.75
- adhere your gift-wrap squares to the layering panels with tape runner, and then trim off excess gift wrap (alternately, you could adhere several squares of gift wrap to a full-sized piece of cs and then cut them to size)
- create a with coordinating ribbon
- adhere card front to card base using pop dots
- stamp a simple greeting inside and you're done
I put mine in the sideways orientation because they didn't want to stand up the other way. Be aware that square cards do require more postage.
