Hello! This card fits two challenges today! The first challenge is the Free 4 All Challenge: Anything Goes: Must have a Freebie-(I belong to the DSS group and received the Black Brads and plaid ribbon a while back from a Secret Sister.) The second challenge is the Stampin' B's Challenge for this week: Collage.
Now, I'm a pretty good sport when it comes to challenges. However, I wanted to throw in the towel when it came to collage. I'm just confused by the different "elements" that are often found in that type of card. However, (after a GOOGLE search), I found that MANY collage cards start with an element and build on that "theme" like I did, using different shapes. sizes and textures. So, I stamped the big silhouette from Just Dandy for the background. Next I stamped the focal image in Adirondack Ginger. I stamped in the sentiment in Adirondack Espresso. Then, I added the big flower and leaves. I thought it needed MORE, so I ad the ribbons and then the fern punched. It still needed more, so I added the charm and brads...I finished it by added the butterfly as a "surprise" element. It almost blends into the background, which is what I was looking for with this image. Collage cards often have one main focal point with MANY subtle secondary focal points.
This was the third try at this card, there are two very UCKY tries in my "Cards that have gone BAD" bin.
Finished card size: 5" square
Total time to complete: Well over an hour...I'm pretty embarrassed to mention that this collage style threw me, considering that I'm a "layer it and embellish it UP!" type of stamper.
