I made a quick and simple little card for my girlfriend's son's 8th birthday. I was very inspired by Susan Raihala's (aka LateBlossom here at SCS) card here: CSS Kid Birthday Card by LateBlossom at Splitcoaststampers Susan is one of the "Queens of CAS" IMHO and I have learnt so much from her - THANKS SUSAN!! Susan's cards are always so well-balanced - something I struggle with at times.
I stamped both the image and sentiment with Vintage Sepia ink and heatset it with my heat-gun then coloured the image with Derwent Coloursoft + Prismacolor pencils and OMS. I wanted the present to have a little bit of dimension, so I cut out some little pieces of Olive Green Glitter cs and glued them on top of the present on the image. I lightly chalked around the image with blue chalk (but you can't really see it in the photo - trust me - it's there).
I then layered the image onto the same green glitter cs - then onto Kraft cs. The Kraft cs was embossed with my CB and one of the ef's from my Sizzix Textured Impressions "Birthday set #3".
I was surprised how quick the card was to make; in fact, I think it took me longer to decide that I didn't really NEED a ribbon - that a card can look just fine WITHOUT one LOL!
I'm popping this card into the current SCS 'Ways to use it' Challenge WT309 of 'Happy Birthday' where you have to use any sort of birthday products on your project, even if it's just a sentiment. ------------------------------ We as people are raindrops of colorful ink , falling down Crisp and Clear, each a different shade more vibrant then the last, but once we realize at the bottom of an endless abyss we all fall into the same inkpot forming one color, only then can we come together as one My son.
