I need to send a card abroad to DHÂ’s Uncle. All my offerings DH ReJECTED! (see my last 3 posts). SonÂ’s helpfully offered me the following advice:
NO flora or fauna. NO pictures (son no. 1) NO art. Maybe Nothing (son no.2)
Me: Aghast! Is this even possible?... I was seriously deflated...I refuse to send Uncle plain & boring. I took 3 days to contemplate this impossible assignment. Scoured SCS for inspiration.
I decided TEXTURE was key...I could disguise DP if it was subtle...ink edges...3D foam dots...I was not defeated.
The following 6 cards were offered. 3 got good reviews. 1 pleased everyone. 2 rejected.
Their comments gave me some insight into what MEN want...helpful for future reference!
(PS...If you can make a card with the above criteria...please share!)
Doodled the border on the flagged note. Thought I might get away with a die buckle. Paper pricked above the panel.
This was voted 2nd ...by DH and Son no.1
Son no. 2 didn’t like this sentiment...not ‘plain & straightforward’ enough.

Ha!! I thought my DH was fussy, but evidently not. He even let me put ribbon on the card I made for him to give a friend - ok, it's not for a guy. His main criteria for a guy card are no ribbon, no bling.
Have to laugh at the *Maybe nothing* from your second son. It looks as if you rose to the challenge perfectly.
