When I was growing up, my dad was a sign painter, so summer meant he painted outdoor signs. So we didn't ever go on a long vacation, only quick one day trips, getting up while it was still dark and coming home after dark, with all the kids asleep in the car.
Along with helping in the garden, summer vacation meant playing baseball with the neighborhood, so I made a card inspired by those memories.

Your vacations sound exactly like ours but the best treat was stopping for a loaf of bread, cheese and baloney and pop...yummy!
Lots of baseball in our summers too, great card showing your summer vacation from school! Nice job with the faux stitching.

I like how your faux stitching came out! We played lots of baseball too. On family picnics, everyone -- adults and children alike -- would have a pick-up game in the back field behind our house. Great memories -- thanks, Melody, for reminding me. Love your card!

Terrific summer card. Isn't it wonderful how this challenge has brought out so many childhood memories? You certainly can't have summer without baseball. Nobody wanted me on their team because I couldn't hit, throw, or catch. LOL!
