Hi! This card was for todayÂ’s StampinÂ’ BÂ’s Challenge: Patriotic Card for Memorial Day and I added Paint to the embellishments and the focal panel to fit today's Way's To Use It Challenge.
Memorial Day is the legal holiday in the United States, celebrated on the last Monday in May. It commemorates the members of the United States armed forces who were killed in war.
I often think about our Service Men and Women. And, especially since now, I have a son in the Army. And, Memorial Day is especially dear to us, as we live in a Navy town. Our friends and family members have died in wars.
Today’s card was made by “erasing” some of the words and coloring from a piece of Designer Paper. (I used a sanding block.) Next, I stamped the first two words from the poem in Tropical Vacation: “We remember” in Espresso. Then, I stamped in the pocket watch from Take the Time/Father’s Day.
Next, I used Acrylic black paint and a dauber to "age" the brads and the flag. I also added in a bit of the paint onto the focal panel. I think it was a good idea, as the flag and the brads were a bit "shiny."
