Hi! I made this card for today's ways to use it challenge (edge distresser tool# and yesterday's sketch challenge.
I'm glad I didn't spend much time coloring in the background butterfly scene: it's pretty well covered up!! After heat embossing it in black ep, I water colored the wings using yoyo yellow (I thought I had the barely bannana ink pad!) and more mustard reinkers and an aquapainter. Then masked it and stamped more grasses and sponged in the sky and the bottom of the grassy area.
I added two panels using so saffron cs/paper, and on one I added the black punched butterflies (which mimic the yellow swallowtail); then I added the sentiment panel. I used my distressing tool around the edges of the largest so saffron panel (it isn't even, so the distressor draws the eye away from the flaws!!!) I love using my distress edge tool!! It gives cs a vintage look, and you can use it as much (to give a very distressed look to a project) or as little as you want (a very subtle look); I chose to use it just a little bit on this card!
TFL and have a great day!

What a beautiful card, Gail! Your butterfly are wonderful and contrast so nicely with your bg color. Your watercolored panel is lovely. You did a great job!

LOL, after all the effort I'd put into masking my scene and chalking it, there was no way I was going to cover it up - thank goodness for options like vellum and acetate. But actually, I really like the way the butterfly is hidden behind the other panels on this - for me it works well with the whole idea of a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis.
