This card was composed for a double challenge. IC221 and FEB10VSNM. The first challenge was to be inspired by an Ice Skating Costume and this pair -Anna Zadorozhniuk and Sergei Verbillo, Figure Skating, Ice Dance seen here: http://www.vancouver2010.com/olympic...hotoScrollHref inspired me. Three of my children Ukrainian danced for many years and I still have all of their costumes. The second challenge was to make a card for someone who inspires you. I made this card for my SIL who always goes out of her way to help everyone. So this one`s for you Hilda. The second part of the challenge was to use three different ribbons. I braided the ribbons together because it reminded me of the very first headpiece I had to make for my oldest daughter. It also reminded me of the fact that I had to learn how to french-braid hair very quickly. There used to be many tears because Mom pulled too hard. The colors are not ones I would normally use but are very representative of the colorful costumes. The half pearls stand for the red bead necklaces that accompany every costume and the ribbons & prima represent the headpieces. I took a picture of the card with parts of Lisa`s Poltava costume and a picture that my youngest daughter painted a couple of years ago of her Ukrainian dance boots, beads, and one of her head pieces. The blouses and shirts will be kept for many years because of the hundreds of hours of work that I put in embroidering. Good thing the card only took 42 minutes.
