I totally got my ideas from this lovely card by KarenG (Four Squares! by KarenG at Splitcoaststampers)
I loved her card in every way, I just changed a few things to make it my own. I still like hers better!
I changed it from a square card to a "regular" card size, changed the colors and added a few details to accomodate with the new shape of the card.
I totally thought this would be a boy card, but no such luck. I asked my husband and he didn't think it was very boyish! Oh well. I won't give it to him then. Too many scallops and ribbon, I guess.

Okay, so maybe it's not boy-ish, according to your DH (probably because the squares have pretty scalloped edges), however, it makes me think of a great St Patrick's day card! Stick with the shades of green, maybe add a shamrock, and there you go!
