Whew! Happy New Year! I took the weekend off to spend the last couple days with my kids and had a little time to myself. The boys are back in school today so I decided to play in a challenge!
Today Holly our new Technique Challenge hostess came up with the idea of creating a card using "paper quilting". What a perfect idea for the quilter that I am. I couldn't wait to play. At Christmas time, I made a doll quilt to give to one of the special needs children at our church. My Pastor was delighted to see that I made a doll quilt with a matching pillow for her.
I created a card from the Windmill doll quilt shown in the picture using coordinating dp's today. I used a 1 inch square punch to punch out 12 flowered and 12 yellow blocks. To make it easier I thought was to punch out some green and pink blocks, glue them, and trim the access off. These were mounted onto a white piece of c/s. Once glued all in place. I forced the cb Swirl folder onto the design. I forgotten about the thickness after I had glued all the pieces onto the white c/. I added 1/4 seems for the edging of flowered dp to the base of the card. I added a piece of green felt ribbon and tied. I felt like it needed something else, so I stamped the phrase with a colored marker, adhered to piece of dp, and attached it using foam tape. Adhered to card. This took a bit longer than what I expected but I like the outcome! Thanks Holly for the wonderful challenge! Thanks for dropping by!
What do you think?

This is really wonderful! Your fabric quilt must have brought much joy to the little girl! It's lovely. Your generosity of your talents is a real gift. Your card is lovely too! : )

Really lovely. It may have taken longer than you expected, but I bet it was still quicker than making that lovely little doll's quilt. Bet one little girl was so pleased to get that!
