A totally different card to my usual style! I *love* the Vintage styles of cards with all their distressing & muted tones and really admire those who achieve such beautiful cards but struggle doing my own because mine just seems to look like I stepped on it with a dirty shoe! Anyway, here is my "take" on vintage.
The bird was stamped onto cream cs with Versacolor Burgundy ink and embossed with clear ep. The sentiment is from a gorgeous set by Waltzingmouse Stamps called "Very Vintage Christmas" and was stamped with Bamboo ink and embossed with clear ep. Then I grabbed my seasponge and sponged the same two inks plus the Antique Linen ink all around the image & sentiment. I added 3 pale olive gemstones to the flourishes around the bird. The image panel is up on 1mm mounts, as is the centre red CB'd panel.
The dp and all the red & green cs layers were sponged with the Antique Linen ink.
The holly and berries in the LH corner of the image were made by "yours truly" and I was so happy with how they turned out. I read on Andrea Walford's Blog how to make your own holly and it is SO simple using just a circle or oval punch. Have a look here at this link and read all about it: http://andreawalford.com/?s=holly+tutorial Thanks Andrea!
I added a curved centre line to my leaves using my stylus and a mouse pad, and lightly chalked the berries with brown on one side and white on the other to give them some depth. I also chalked the leaves with white on some of the edges and centre line and also some red chalk (yes, red!). I always add some of the common colour(s) I am using to leaves (eg: if I were painting orange flowers, I would add little touches of orange to the leaves) because it ties it all together. It was a little tip I was given by my Decorative Painting teacher which has stuck with me all these years, and it really makes a huge difference. Oh, and lastly, the holly leaves and berries are up on both 1mm and 2mm mounts to give them some dimension.
Thanks for having a peek at my dirty card!
