I am so embarrassed! A fellow Splitcoaster with a great eye noticed that I put the Hebrew on upside down. If I turn the photo, then the dove is facing the wrong way, and I feel like he's headed "down." Please forgive my ignorance -- I can't read Hebrew. I should have checked but never thought about it!
The Hebrew is “Ani Ma'amin” (I Believe with Perfect Faith). According to some Holocaust survivor testimonials, this song of faith was sung by concentration camp prisoners as they were marched, by the Nazis, to the gas chambers.
Ani MaÂ’amin is printed on blue striped paper, which symbolizes the prison uniforms worn by concentration camp victims. It is layered on black to symbolize the dark times, which is layered on blue, symbolic of the strength of the faith of the Jewish people.
As the Dove of Peace pulls the barbed wire from the hymn of the Believers, the Star of David, and all it symbolizes, is freed from Nazi tyranny.
