I was so pleased to see Kathy (aka Wattle) chosen as the featured stamper this week. She has a wonderful gallery and I have several of her wonderful creations tagged in my faves waiting to be CASEd... Chose this card to case.
As I knew I had no wattle images in my stash of stamps, I went searching for a line art image of wattle (National Floral Emblem for Australia) which I then coloured in digitally using a 'bristle brush' in my photo editing program - hey, it's almost like colouring by hand - I had the mouse in my hand the entire time. Made my own background paper (again, using my computer) by stamping a silhouette image of a wattle branch onto some textured digital paper that I recoloured to match the wattle image. Used an embossing tool to give some definition to the butterfly wings. Some pearls, some punching, a sentiment, etc, etc and here it is. Can you tell I'm longing for some warm weather here with the sentiment I chose!
Things I changed...the colour scheme, the image, the border and butterfly punches (I actually don't own the ones she used - must get shopping!), pearls instead of brads...hope it still bears some resemblance to the original!!!
Congrats Kathy!

Heather, girl, you outdid yourself. I've been waiting to see your next upload and I wasn't disappointed. I love so much about your card - the colors, the extra effort you went to, the image, coloring, sentiment, dec. BORDER punch, pearls and butterfly. I see Wattle was impressed. You did a wonderful job! TFS!

See what I miss when I don't check your gallery! This is amazing, again your computer expertise astounds me. You always were good at colouring though, even if it was for matching games or bingo...
I also love the yellow and sahara sand. I haven't thought of that combo before. Kudos! Or is it kudu's??

Heather, I am AMAZED, I had no idea that stamping and coloring with such variations could be done on a computer (I know so little in that area). What an incredibly thoughtful and personal card you have created. I love that you even dressed up the inside. Hope the sun is shining and the buds are showing daily promise.

What a sunny cheery card. I love the double scalloped borders and again how you've used it inside the card. I'm really making an effort to do the insides of my cards lately ~ it adds so much to them. I also love the pearl embellishing. Wonderful job.
