Over the weekend I made 11 of these cards to send to my niece in Wisconsin. She is a SU rep and once a month she has 10 ladies plus her self that gathers together to make cards. Each month one of the ladies is the hostess. She needed one more hostess for the year and asked me if I would be interested and if so, I would need to make 11 cards. I realized this weekend with Veterans Day and no mail that I needed to have these mailed by Monday.
It took me forever to get the cards designed. It just didn't come together easy. I kept changing it and of course I didn't make one of Sharon's simple cards. If you scroll down to my last card, you can read how I determined the size of two pattern papers. I wanted my stripes to match, so I cut both the canopy and bottom striped paper at the same time, then cut off the top for the canopy. I measured all 11 cards at once and cut, realizing afterwards that I did not allow for the 1/2 inch or so that would be trimmed off after I used the Victorian Punch on it. So, it is a little shorter than I had planned, but a lesson well learned.
I embossed the dove after antiquing the card stock to make it look more vintage. I also embossed the word Joy that I cut out with my Cricut. The white poinsettia looks too creamy in this picture but it does not in real life. It was the finishing touch I needed, even though it might not look like it here.
What a gorgeous, WONderful Christmas card! I just love the papers, the layout is amazing and the vintage look is perfect with the embossed dove. Wow, WOW!
