Well, while waiting for the challenge for today I decided to use the new set Happy Blessings... I had set it out last night to force myself to use it BEFORE the new Christmas sets!!! (Thanksgiving does come before Christmas, right?!)
Anyway, this card STARTED out simple... stamped the images in Basic Brown on white cardstock, colored them with Staedler colored pencils (love these... no mess and easy to fix mistakes and blend!). Then... I just didn't know how to mount these images because I was tired of doing rectangle on rectangle, so I watercolored the background of the cardstock with Soft Sky ink and then decided to cut them out... which lead to sponging around the edges with Soft Sky and then the bottoms with Old Olive.
Now... what to do with them??!!
I was so inspired by "Motherofmark's" cards with the little plastic boxes that I ordered some of those boxes... well, the scarecrow just fit perfectly in the ones I bought!! SHAKERBOX just shouted out loud, so I ran for the beads. It would have been nice if the Nestibilities dies that are scalloped rectangles would have been the right size, too, but alas... I wasn't that lucky. Anyway, I used the SU scalloped square punch to punch out the Old Olive rectangle and then decided to brad it into the front of the box so that tape or glue wouldn't show.
I enjoyed using my white gel pens so much on the last challenge that I decided to "stitch" around some pieces. Anyway, I got the whole thing together and then wanted to cover the edge of the box... which is 5/8" thick, which just happens to be the width of my brown grosgrain ribbon, so that got put on, but then I thought it needed a little color, so the 1/4" More Mustard grosgrain got stacked on top of that.
So, when I finally got finished, I checked to see if the challenge for today was posted yet... it was, but this card doesn't qualify for that, as it is anything but simple. I have a hard time with "simple."
