The only difference I made, was I folded down the top edge to reinforce the top and add a contrasting design to the bag. I also added a strip of chocolate chip card stock decorated with the scalloped edge punch.
The star is from the Star Bright Designer Series Paper Ornaments Kit in the 2008 Holiday Mini Catalog. I attached it with pop up glue dots.
To reinforce the bottom of the bag, after the bag was finished being assembled, I laid a piece of cardboard (I used the cardboard included in the packs of Designer Series Paper) in the bottom of the bag. It's amazing how much that reinforces the strength of the bag.
The handles are made from 1" stitched chocolate grosgrain ribbon. The holes are reinforced with pewter jumbo eyelets.
This bag is very easy to make! I included three sets of directions that give more or less the same info so you can pick which one you can follow the easiest.

I do believe it is much prettier in real life. I am glad I got to see the real thing. Thanks for sharing the pattern and showing us what the stars in the kit looked like. Hope your birthday was a cool one and your husband got a birthday card also. (lol)
