This is my submission for Jacqueline's VSN book themed challenge... to make a card inspired by our favorite childhood book.
This was fun even though I would never send this card to ANYONE! LOL!
One of my favorite books as a child was "The Poky Little Puppy". My grandchildren have loved it as well, so I have a copy of it on my bookshelf. In the story a litter of puppies disobey Mommy every day and dig under the fence to go explore the wide world outside. When they would count themselves to be sure they were all there, the one poky little puppy was always missing! Each night their mother would refuse to give the other puppies dessert because they had disobeyed and dug out under the fence, but the poky little puppy got home so late that he got to eat all their dessert when they were sleeping. But the last night, when he had found a nice ripe strawberry in the field, mother had fixed strawberry shortcake. This time the other puppies came hurrying home, filled the hole under the fence and mother was so pleased she gave them all strawberry shortcake. When the poky little puppy finally got home, he had to squeeze through a tiny place in the fence, and there was no strawberry shortcake left. He went to bed without dessert. I just know he was dreaming of those strawberries he had found on the other side of the fence. Hence, this is what I came up with.
I only had a couple of dog stamps, so I made the quilt for this little guy by Anitas and stamped the fence, also Anita's. I was in such a rush I just hand wrote the sentiment. As I said... I wouldn't send this to anyone... it was just fun to make it and remember.

That was a childhood favorite of my son too and I think oldest DD liked it as well. Thanks for sharing your memory and for bringing back one of my own as well.
