Do you ever have a day when you start stamping and nothing goes right? This card illustrates just such a day. Urg! I've had every imaginable color of ribbon, brad, jewel, and paper on this wretched card. And, as you see, I finally went back to a monochromatic scheme.
The bird is from the "Paris" stamp set by Cavallini & Co. I stamped the bird with Black StazOn onto a window (acetate) sheet, let it dry, flipped it over, and stamped another bird on the opposite side of the sheet. I let the second bird dry and then cut them out with a Nestabilities oval die cut. I also cut out a Very Vanilla oval and a vellum oval of the same size. The Very Vanilla oval went behind the window sheet, and the vellum oval went on top. I adhered them to the scalloped black oval and then sewed around the edges with cream thread. I recommend threading the ribbon through the slots before attaching the self-adhesive pearls on the oval so they don't pop off and get lost. If you do it the way I did it (before the ribbon was slotted through), you'll eventually have to relocate them on the floor or counter or under the ribbon or on your hand and readhere them with Crystal Effects! I also sewed around the outside edges of the designer paper, but not before I had attached the pearls in the four corners and had to pull them off, sew, and then reattach them with Crystal Effects. (Are you beginning to sense my frustration?!)
This will go to a couple whose engagement party announcement was similar. Hope they like it because it's one of a kind. :-)

Oh, Shellie, I am so sorry to hear about your frustration with this card. Trust me, we have all been there! I sympathize with you, friend! Take heart as I think this card is very elegant... especially with the black and white. Of course, I love the pearls and that gorgeous ribbon. I'm sure the recipients will love it, too.
(p.s. I haven't forgotten about responding to your e-mail either... I'm slacking, I know. But you know how the summer always goes... Soon, I promise!)

This is soooo beautiful! And thanks for sharing the info on how you stamped one bird and then flipped the acetate to stamp the other bird. I had not thought of doing that and it is such a good idea!
