The colour challenge this week was to combine white, groovy guava and sahara sand.
I don't have any sahara sand but I did have an idea and my good friend Pat was kind enough to lend me her stamp pad and then as a gift she gave me two pieces of the paper. And boy was I glad because I had myself an idea.
I had just gotten two stencils from Heather's Stamping Haven in Ottawa and the idea to use them this way came to me in the store while Heather and I were talking about all then endless options for a milk jug. Groovy guava happens to be THE BEST colour to may koi out of.
What I did was stencil the milk jug carefully with sahara sand onto glossy card stock and then I cut out a mask and masked the jug off. Then I masked off the table top sky line and stamped flannel plaid in versamark and brayered groovy guava on top. I started layering on more guava and added a small amount of art print brown (which I use as a neutral for my watercolouring - so please moderators don't take my card off!) and then deepend the intensity with a bit of memories black ink (I'm under the understanding that black is considered a neutral...).
All the initial inking I did was with a 1/4 of a round sponge!
Then I did the back ground behind the jug using the same colours, trying to leave a bit of a glow behind the jug.
Next I used a small sponge applicator for chalks and carefully deepened the colour on the jug with sahara sand and black.
Last I did the koi with groovy guava, trying to graduate the colour and added a small amount of artprint brown and black as accents.
I mounted the panel onto sahara sand, then the wide stripes of groovy guava and mounted it all onto a piece of whisper white.
I'm really happy with this card and loved doing it. It turned out just the way I hoped it would!
Hope you all like it as much as I do. TFL.

This is incredible! I cannot believe that I'm looking at a card and not an oil painting! This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time! Thanks for taking the time to go over each step- I would absolutely LOVE to try this!
