Default WT86 - Applique revisted

This week, it is once again rerun week for our Way's to Use it Challenge. This week....dig deep and find that little bottle of Liquid Applique. For some reason, I always forget about this item and only remember to bring it out at holiday time, so let's use it on our holiday cards and also find ways to use it in other work as well. Jacksonbelle...I hope you have found that bottle of liquid applique because I am expecting you to actually open it today!;) I am really looking forward to seeing what you all come up with. If you don't have any liquid applique, I'm sorry, but I don't know of any substitutes, but you can buy it at Michael's and other craft stores if you want to play along. Thanks so much for all the enthusiasm on last week's window challenge...what a fabulous bunch of ideas and I haven't even had a chance to look at all of them yet.

Please remember to put WT86 in your keywords section and post a link back here. You are welcome to add a couple of links to past projects if you wish, but please make a new one as well if you do this. After all, the challenge is about getting you to stamp! Please feel free to make as many projects as you wish for this challenge...there is no time limit.

Happy stamping,

Oh, great! I have a whole bunch of colors, but have NO idea where my white is! Of course, they're all at least 5 years old, so I don't know if they are still 'liquid'. Maybe I can actually get a challenge done today? None yet this week. Cleaning is the pits!

Liquid applique is a cream like substance in a tube that creates a 3-D effect on fabric and paper. You squeeze it onto your project, let it dry then use a heat tool or hairdryer to heat it and it puffs up, like a foam. The kind I have comes in different colors. It is made by Marvy. Here is a sample of one of my cards made with it. YOu can also use 3-D embroidery stuff found at the craft stores or even Walmart has it. I haven't seen liquid applique at my Walmart, but my Joann's has it, as does Joanns.com. The foam on the latte was done with liquid applique.

My card for last night's challenge has LA on it. I painted mine on with a paint brush for the ground to make a more even look for the snow. You don't have to let it dry first before you heat it though. You can apply it and heat it right after. No problem.

Does SU! sell liquid applique? And what is Lumiere. Would mixing Lumiere with an embossing powder simulate liquid applique? Sorry for all the questions... I'm such a "newb" as my teenager would say.

I'm putting a link here to a card that uses craft ink and embossing powder in a way that appears like LA. See ice on dog house roof I painted the ice on the roof by using a thin paint brush dipped into craft ink and then embossed. You can do the same type of thing for ground snow or snow flakes. It won't look quite as puffy but is a good substitute for the look.

I don't think SU sells LA anymore - used to. Lumiere is a shimmery paint that is very quick drying. Comes in many colors. SU sells white. I love it for faux mother of pearl technique. Others mix it with pearl ex and use as paint. I'm sure there are other ways to use it as well. Never tried mixing it with EP.

Thanks, Melody. I just bought some lumiere... meant to buy the pearl ex powder right above it in the catalog. Doh. I'm so glad to now know what to do with it.
