Although hot air balloon travel has been around since 1783, the first recorded circumnavigation of the globe by hot air balloon was achieved fairly recently, in 1999. Betrand Piccard from Switzerland and Brian Jones from the U.K. teamed up and launched on March 1st from the Swiss Alps. After 19 days, 21 hours and 55 minutes they successfully landed in North Africa.
In honor of their achievement, let's fill the gallery with balloons - hot air, helium, speech balloons - the sky's the limit! (sorry about the pun - I couldn't resist!)
