NSBD04: Kentucky Derby Inspired
It’s DERBY WEEKEND in Kentucky. Today is the 135th Run for the Roses!
Do you want to learn more about the 135th Kentucky Derbyat Churchill Downs in Louisville? Check it out! There is also this neat quiz...where you can test your horse lingo. I scored 8/10.
So what's the KY Derby all about? Well...obviously, there are the horses. How about all the television stars, movie stars, country music stars, hats, flowers, fashion, royalty, food...I wouldn't know WHERE to start with the food...Derby Pie, Mint Juleps, buffet...
I'm really likin' the big flowery hats. Yep...you read Mollymoo right...big flowery hats. Check 'em out! Aren't they fun?
Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to create a page or two inspired by the 135th Kentucky Derby.
Is it expensive to print at home? Is the quality good and do the prints have lasting power?
I've been going through my photos that I want to use and I'm tempted to just print them temporarily on copy paper.....but I can't ensure they'd be done to the right size.....
It's times like these where I wish we lived in a city!!!

I'm happy with the quality of my prints that I print at home. I honestly do not know price compairson wise...I do it for convenience. The main reason I print at home...I don't know what I want to do with my pictures...until I get ready to do it...in that case, it really doesn't matter as long as I have ink in the photo printer and the right sized photo paper.
As far as staying power, I have prints I've printed several years ago...still look as good as they didi the day I printed them. I think the staying power has alot to do with the type of inks and the photo paper you use.

Just stoppin to check on your challenge. Can you believe I just printed off a recipe for Derby Pie? I haven't had Derby Pie since I lived in KY years ago. I can't wait to make this tonight.

Great Challenge....
At my house we live for the derby come the first of May. It is one of those traditions that stemmed from growing up in a family of horse racers. This is one of the highlights of my memories that I enjoyed with my father. We always spent the day together watching the Kentucky Derby. I miss him dearly, but I enjoy the time I spend with my boys continuing the family tradition.
I have the perfect pictures for this challenge! My rose bushes are in full bloom and I snapped a few shots just the other day.... off to print them and scrap!!! thanks for the challenge!

This is recipe number III, so there must be two others, maybe more!
That is not the same as the one my family has made and passed down over the generations.... I will have to find mine and post it tomorrow! It is great to know that there are different ones, this one sounds good.... I will have to try it.

I'll be looking for your recipe! I've heard that the "REAL" Derby Pie Recipe is a secret...there's a bakery in Louisville that makes these pies and distributes them. You can find them in the frozen foods section of your grocery store...at least I do here in Elizabethtown.
