Default TLC630 ~ Baby Wipe Watercolor ~ {3/19/17}

Hi all! I'm so excited to be up next to host the challenge! I'm not so excited for the reason I'm offering it so early. I came down with a migraine this afternoon and my meds have made me unusually sleepy... zzzzzz sooo... post super duper early it is... a treat for those who like to get busy early with a challenge (and late in the day ;)).

I hope you enjoy this week's TLC! It's one of my absolute fave background techniques...

BABY WIPE WATERCOLOR

It's so easy and creates the prettiest effect (especially considering how easy it is.) I use it ALL the time when I am Bible Journaling. You can find a tutorial video of it on my "Always Stampin' Videos" YouTube channel. Just look for "Bible Journaling, EXPERIENCE the Word with Kelly." The "how to" video is in part 2 but you are more than welcome to visit part 1 to understand some of the chit chat in part 2. The video shows the technique with acrylic paints where as today's challenges features water-base inks.

Here are the supplies needed...

BABY WIPES
WATER-BASE INKS
WHITE OR CREAM CARD STOCK
CLEAR ACRYLIC BLOCK
HEAT TOOL (optional)

Here's the basic step-by-step...

1. Apply ink to the acrylic block.

2. Pick up ink from acrylic block with a baby wipe.

3. Randomly burnish inked baby wipe onto cardstock.

TIPS...

Wait until inked card stock is completely dry before using. A heat tool will help speed the drying time.

To avoid visual "circles" from burnishing, begin rubbing with inked baby wipe at the edge of the card stock before working color into the center parts of the card stock.

Rubbing too much with baby wipe will cause fibers of the card stock to come loose. (I personally like this look A LITTLE as it gives the card stock a "hand made paper" look.)

The more ink colors used, the more rainbow effect created.

The more moisture in the wipe, the further the color will spread onto the card stock.

HERE is my sample... LIFT MY BABY WIPE

Be sure to post a link to your offering here in the comments below. And then be sure to include your sample in the

TLC630 Gallery... HERE.

I wanted to try this technique but didn't have baby wipes so tried it with Clorox kitchen wipes instead . . . seemed to work quite well as a substitute! Here is my card for the challenge:

Smile TLC630 Otter's Gift

Had fun making this card, using the baby wipe technique for my "water" background- the otter has a stamped gift wrapped package, and I put a larger wrapped package with twine alongside. Here's Otter's Gift

This is a new technique to me, Kelly, and once I got the right cardstock, it was really fun!
