Default TLC613 ~ Block That Kiss! ~ {11/19/16}

Hey Techie Lovers! Today we are going to...

BLOCK THAT KISS!

(giggle) Sounds fun, right?! The technique is fun but being sick is NOT. If you have spent way too much time on the couch the past few days as I have, go ahead and block those kisses -for realz- to keep the germs right where they are. HA! But as for the Blocked Kissing Technique, there are SO MANY possibilities for this easy peasy but wow-with-a-pow technique! Here's how it goes...

and before we begin, let's talk about the ONE prerequisite-

NO FOCAL IMAGE!!!

Because this background technique is so cool and can really be a prominent feature on our greeting cards, let's just focus on the Blocked Kissing Technique. Let your BG be the focal point and see how easily your card can shine

Alrighty then here we go...

1. Using the F size block from SU! or any large background block, ink the entire block with a lighter shade of one ink color. I chose Soft Sky for my BG ink. Older Classic SU! pads work just as well as the newer ones, but I actually prefer the newer for this particular technique.

SIDE NOTE: If you have not stepped into the world of polymer or acrylic block stamping, I highly encourage it. If you haven't noticed by now with the previous TLC's I have offered, I REALLY love my acrylic blocks. They are WAY more useful than just holding a stamp image! BUT... if you do not have any acrylic blocks, you can still achieve the Blocked Kissing Technique by using a window sheet or transparency. Treat the WS or transparency as your acrylic block. C'mon! Find a way to join along

2. In a darker ink, stamp focal image several times directly over the already inked acrylic block. I usually tend to stay within the same color family with these two inks (the bg ink and the focal image ink.) But using two different colors really adds a fun pop to the card. Try it!

3. Huff the block with a deep sweet breath and lay card stock over the inked block as it sits ink facing upward. Rub the card stock until inked images are well transferred to the card stock.

Voila! Create card as desired. REMEMBER: This is pretty much it! NO FOCAL IMAGES. Accentuate the Blocked Kissing Technique by allowing the background to be the focal point.

HERE is my sample... KISSED BY A DRAGONFLY

And be sure to add the call letters TLC613 to your upload so that your beautiful card will be included in the...

TLC613 BLOCK THAT KISS Gallery

I hope you have a creative day and receive many kisses... the kind you don't have to block. HA!

I had to kiss a lot of frogs to get one Prince tonight. This was a little harder than it sounds!

Hehehe... it's all good, girl! Sometimes the smallest guys in the pack have the biggest bite ;). You asked in a comment over on my gallery post "what kind of ink" did I use. I used Stampin' Up! Classic Ink. The first ink (the one that goes onto the entire acrylic block) was Soft Sky and it was an OLD pad (the old SU! style... so more of a fabric pad.) The second ink was Dapper Denim (obviously from the NEW collection of SU! ink pads... more like a sponge.) Hope that helps! Go ahead and give it another try... trying new things is always a challenge but after you've given it a go, it just gets easier with practice :-D.
