Default TLC606 - Everything Old is New Again: Bandanna Technique {10/03/2016}

Happy Monday to you all! Since it's the first Monday of a new month, it's time to revisit an older technique. I actually had a different technique chosen and a sample made - and then the great Western vibe from all your gorgeous Faux Stamped Leather cards last week set me off on a different tack altogether, and I thought we would stick with the Western feel and revisit the Bandanna Technique, as featured in TLC220, back in 2009.

I might as well just quote Lynn in her original challenge write-up, I'm not going to be able to put it any better. She says
Quote:

BUT the really good news is that you don't have to make a bandanna patterned background. The technique really lies in the opaque white pen that you use to highlight certain aspects of your stamped image. Doodle a little - doodle a lot - it's up to you.

Basically the way to replicate the look is to stamp your image onto colored cardstock using similar ink, or make your own background with any other technique you like and stamp your image using black ink onto your cardstock. From that point you just use your stamped images as your guide as you dot and dash your way around your designs.

Here are my before and after photos just as some visual inspiration. I used a couple of stamps from Playful Petals.

:arrow: Remember to use the keyword TLC606 when you are uploading. It's helpful (to the hostesses for sure!) if you come back and leave a link on this thread .

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

This looks fun! I hope I'll be able to carve out some "me time" in my studio when I get home from work so that I can play with this technique.

Yes Sabrina - what's old is new again - I had never heard of this technique but thoroughly enjoyed it. I had to laugh when I saw the challenge because yesterday an old red bandana kept sliding off the shelf in my closet!! Good Omen?? Here is my card:

Ironically, I was going thru the SCS list of tutorials in order to stretch my creativity and although I saw this, wasn't certain if I have the gusto to try it. Now with this challenge, I'm determined to give it a go. Sabrina, you threw down the gauntlet, I'll run with it...ok maybe in a day or two.
