First and foremost, I must thank Deb Felts (debdeb) for filling in for me on short notice last week. Deb is such a sweetheart and a true friend. Thanks, sweetie!!
I think we can all agree that when we are creating the perfect project, whether it is a card or a 3D item, having the perfect designer paper is always a plus. The problem is, as many designer papers as there are out there, its nearly impossible to always find what you need.

Today you are going to create your own designer paper! This is something many of us do already. Here are several ideas to get you started:
Using a pencil eraser and your coordinating colored ink, create a polka dot background
Using a ruler and markers, create a striped background
Using stamps, create a patterned piece (great for those tiny stamps, but big ones work great too!)
Add some sparkle or fluff to emulate the flocked and glitzy stuff we all covet
Mix a couple of these ideas together to make a truly unique background!
For this challenge, I asked my dear friend Jessica (knutsen24) to help me out with a sample. I have attached hers below.
I love doing this more than buying dp--to me making cards is all about the creative process rather than the amount of toys I have. I'll be back soon with some DP!
BTW--I wanted to comment on Knutsen's card, but couldn't. It's not in the TLC gallery or in her own.
I'm dittoing everyone else before me. Holly, this is my absolute favorite of all techniques. It is so fun and is the sure way to get the colors you want worked into dp custom made.

Darn, I wasn't going to do the challenge this week as I have a concert coming up next weekend and I really should practise all week. Oh well I can justify it as a few much needed breaks and any way everyone should go to perform a concert with ink all over their hands! You made this challenge irresistible. Rubber gloves here I come.
This is my first time joinging a TLC challenge of anykind.
Always on the lookout for a enovative way to muster up an interesting and creative background. I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread. In the meantime, here are my two contributions :
Holly this is fab fun. I could totally do 19 cards for this challenge! I, too, love stamping backgrounds (and using background stamps!!) the mostest! Can't wait to play later!
I just had to make a challenge combo card today...And, since this card has been in my mind's eye since the F4A challenge last week, I decided to make it for today! LOL
Fun challenge, Holly! Making one's own DP can come in handy when one can't find the printed DP that one surely bought! : ) Been there!! Mine is pretty simple, but would be easy to duplicate.
Hi everyone, Holly, this was fun! I used SU sprinkles to made my own dp! Added colours and just made it so happy, just like Cathy's cardmaking. We are honouring her today!
I love making my own DP and do it all the time!! I went really CAS today, as I was making a set of note cards as a hostess gift and needed to keep things moving (quick and easy is the motto when mass producing, right??). Here's mine:
