I just bought some at wallie, tried my copics, pencils and crayons. it did awful. The white isnt very bright and the paper is thin. Packaging says 110 but it feels like 50.
Omg, I think that you must have gotten a really bad batch. I would take the whole lot back to Walmart and ask for my money back. I use GP 110lb all of the time for my not so good carstock and it is wonderful. I have even used it to color images on and it works just fine. I know that a lot of other people here at SCS use it also, I hope that they will chime in here and tell you there experiences. I use it to print off all of my ditigal images and it has been great. I use it for my in-between cardstock on my cards all of the time. Mine is a nice bright white, that is why I am thinking that you got a bad batch. Maybe different parts of the country get different sorts of paper? I am so sorry that you had this experience with GP, it really is a wonderful inexpensive paper.
Yes, I use it all the time. It is 110 but the paper is not very dense it seems...or smooth. Of course, it is not made for stampers so that is probably why! I like using my Copics on it. It does absorb the ink a lot and allows me to blend easily.
I think it is all what you are used to. I also LOVE PTI's white and, do to limited space, can see myself using that and not buying anymore GP as I also like PTI for card bases. JMHO.
I'm also a fan of the G.P.! I use PTI Stamper's Select for card bases, because I love the "rich" feel. I have bought some of Gina K's paper as well, because I've heard great things about, but havn't given it a try yet.
I did receive a "bad" batch of the G.P. once, though.... Throughout the pack there were a few tiny black dots scattered over the paper. I was able to use it, but there was a lot of waste. That was the one and only time I've had that happen.
There are several different weights/brightness variations sold at WalMart. Look at the package and check the numbers, then go back and see if you bought the "whitest" and thickest.
I use GP as well for some things. However, I find that for coloring, I prefer to buy Stampin Up's whisper white or shimmery white. I think that it is just nicer paper.
I like GP but it is what it is - I think it IS a great paper for those starting out and a backup for those more experienced because papercrafting can be quite a pricey hobby.
I have just used about 20 sheets to make some flash cards for my eldest and it is thicker than normal index cards.
I have also picked up the "wrong" package at Wally's before too so I know the packaging is quite similar throughout the brand and wonder if there is a packaging mixup.
Do I think GP is the best cardstock - no. Do I think it is good cardstock - yes. Do I think it is great for the price - absolutely.
I also use Neenah Solar White.
I worry about messing up too much Neenah cardstock - I don't have those worries so much with the GP.
I've used this cardstock for year. I use it for computer journalling when scrapbooking, I love it for layers in cards. I like to use it whenever I'm experimenting as it's cheap and I don't care if I mess it up.
I have other cardstocks I use for bases because I feel the GP is a little thin for bases, but I love it for most everything else. I especially love the price ;-)
I have used the Georgia Pacific paper. the first one I bought was great, but the second one had creases built into the paper. I won't buy it again. I love PTI white paper.

anyone else have luck with it?
Hi Melissa, you may have gotten a bad ream, but I don't really think so. I have used a lot of GP cardstock and I agree that it's not the brightest white and it does not feel anywhere near 110 lbs, especially when you compare it with other cardstock. But you can't really beat the price and I do use it for a lot of things.
I do not like the Georgia Pacific cardstock. I don't think it is a bright white either. It's sort of grayish when compared to a bright white cardstock. I use PTI cardstock for all of my colored images. I only buy the GP to print other things and for my kids to use.
I use it all the time. I do find that it behaves differently than higher quality white cardstocks...but for most of what I do...it is sufficient. It's all a matter of taste and what $$ you have to spend.
I couldn't agree with RiverIsis more. It's great for a cheap paper. Not the high grade that the others mentioned but not the high price either.
After reading that others think it's gray, I just took a sheet of the GA Pacific, PTI and Neenah (I don't buy the Gina K) outside to compare. There is negligible difference in color (smoothness and weight are different matters). At least in the dye lots I have here on hand.
I second what others have said about color; if it's grayish, you got a yucky dye lot.
[quote=scrappingmelissa;14427391]Does Stampin Up Whisper white do well on copics or pencils with OMS? / quote]
SU whisper white is great with pencils and OMS, it lets me blend beautifully! WW will work ok with copics, as long as you use the rightink (memento black) and NOT SU's basic black. I have some of the Neenah Solar White and I use that for my copics only, but it's not as smooth and creamy as SU's for other stamping.
My personal opinion is that Wally's GP is unfortunately inferior to SU's WWhite in both texture and color (too bad bc I really love to save money). I don't even really like the flimsy nature of it as a card base. I will use it at Christmas time when I'm mass producing or on other projects where I'm making 60 or 70 of something, but I try never to use it for straight up stamping, as the ink doesn't cover as smoothly or produce the bright colors that SU's does.
Does Stampin Up Whisper white do well on copics or pencils with OMS? I am not sure if The angel company has anything paper wise. Does anyone know?
I have been using the paper that The Angel Company has and have been happier with it than with the GP from Wal-Mart. I color with Copics and pencils with OMS too.
I have used it in the past just fine with Adirondack Pitch Black ink. Now I use Gina K's Luxury cardstock, but it is always comforting to know if I run out in the middle of a big project I can use GP cardstock which can be found at any Walmart.
I bought some so I didn't "waste" my SU! WW on a girl scout thing and it is fine. Not as smooth as SU but the weight, brightness and stampability are quite good. Get a refund and try again.

love my georgia pacific, you must got a bad batch, I use pencil gamsol, water, markers and I have never had trouble. Dont get me wrong, I love Gina K and PTI but when I am learning something I hate to waste good paper , and Georgia pacific holds up well to my abuse .

Surely people can offer their opinion without being disparaging - not everyone has lavish budgets in this hobby and GP is their paper of choice.
As we are all adults here, surely people could be constructive and offer rationale why the like or dislike a product and their experience with the product.
Maybe I'm just too Southern, when my mother raised me and told me if I couldn't say something nice then say nothing at all. However, if you had a bad experience with the product this is the place to offer that experience but just universal derogatory statements without reasons doesn't help anyone make a decision IMHO.

thanks! i was feeling a bit beaten down and i appreciate your support. i have an unemployed husband of seven months and trust me, my stamping hobby is LAST on the listof purchases. i find my card hobby very theraputic and i like my walmart GP, guess i am seeing my glass 1/2 full. no PTI or Gina paper here, not in the budget. i am sure it is wonderful, but for now my cards (which have yet to be handed back LOL)will be made on GP paper, and i am grateful that there is such a paper out there.

I use SU WW when I need it but I also keep a very nice supply of GP white for use when that product will work just as well. I like using colored bases and at times I'm looking for a white mat or a mat of white that has been sponged, etc it is a great product for that use as a matter of fact, when using a bunch of layers if you feel GP is a bit thinner all the better.
Has anybody ever had a card returned to them, because of the grade of CS used? Only a "pro" cardmaker would be critically judging your cards and looking for grades of paper. Use what you can afford and be happy!!!!!!
JMHO
I feel that you should use what makes you happy! I have received some images stamped on GP and I'm not disappointed. It feels different than Gina K., but I'm not complaining. I bet when you look through my gallery you can't tell which are GP and which are Gina K.
I have some Gina K that I love, but I realize that I'm already going through it like crazy. There is a paper warehouse about an hour away from me. I'm going to be picking up some Neenah cardstock and give that a shot. Yes, more expensive than GP, but less than Gina K. Hopefully it works out for me.
I don't prefer the GP CS, I do agree that it's somewhat gray and it's not as strong as some other CS, however I also agree that it has it's place.
I am not making more than 2-3 cards a week, so the expense is not an issue for me, but if I were going through a pile of CS for big projects, I would definitely be using it because of the price.

Another thought I had was that I do use different papers for different people. My grandmother LOVES good stationary so I always use my best papers for her stuff. My wouldn't know high quality paper vs construction paper so he gets GP. KWIM? If I know I am trading with a SU demo I will use all SU stuff, etc.

I'm so sorry you felt beaten down. It's fine to use what you like and can afford! You have to remember that many posters are only answering the OP's questions bc she didn't like the result she got with GP. It's perfectly valid for someone to let her know that there is a difference in quality (and there actually is) so she can decide what to use or not. That doesn't mean it's not ok to use GP.
In the meantime, please don't take it personally, or feel badly because others do like/or don't like something you do/don't. If they can afford something else, good for them. You go girl and GP your way to stamp happiness, enjoying your own creativity, that's what it's all about!
I LOVE Georgia Pacific. I use it with GooGone (to blend) and PrismaPencils. I think it works great and it fits my stamping budget. I also find that I do not have to use as much pencil when I use GP vs the other "finer" papers. Coloring is soooo much about the stumps you use. 7kidscollegefund has THE BEST paper stumps. They are soft and work well for larger areas. They are cheap too... Hope this helps..
