Default Note cards and envelopes

Where are stampers buying notecards and envelopes? I used to buy them from SU but they don't seem to stock them anymore. I need something a little nicer than the flimsy notes sold at Michels but they don't have to be the highest quality. The only thread I see is for 2011 and thought maybe I needed updated info.

Have you thought about making your own notecards with nice weight cardstock, cut in half and folded to card size? This is what I always do for notecard sets.

Then I use pre-made envelopes and add my own matching liner to suit the notecards. Here are some I made at Christmas for gifts:

SU! still has notecards & envelopes. The cards are 5 x 3 1/2, the envelopes just a bit bigger. Page 160 of the Annual Catalogue.

I'd give you the price, but I only have it in Canadian.

The SU! notes and envelopes that Gail wrote about are $5.95 for a set of 20 pre-folded cards and 20 envelopes. They are delightful to stamp on and so often just the right size.

I take the Strathmore watercolor cards (5" by 6 7/8") and trim them to A2 size (4 1/4" by 5 1/2"), use the trimmings elsewhere- or just take 8 1/2 x 11" watercolor paper, cut in half and fold (you'll get 2 cards from each sheet). Strathmore also makes "Announcement card" size (4 7/8" by 3 1/2") cards with envelopes. I order from dickblick.com.

I agree that they're a nice size, but I don't care for the SU Whisper White cardstock as a base. So I buy the notecards, use a heavier cardstock and cut my own base, and use the WW notecards for layering, sentiments or other embellishments. I have no idea how cost-effective this is, but it's a convenient way to get this size envelopes.
