Default Ink duster

I just saw a video using this tool as opposed to the blending tools we usually see like for example Tim Holtz.

It appears easier to use and does not leave the lines you get with current blending tools and no build up on edges of your card. It almost looks like a blush brush. They sell them at SSS. Anyone try them?

I found an old link that might help. Not sure if this was what you are talking about or not, but they kind of remind me of smaller, cheaper versions of clarity stamp brushes.

I tried one ages ago and for me they are just too soft which is the same I feeling I have about the clarity brushes.

The Clarity Stamp brushes you mean? Amazing, and no lines. I just can't get the right results with foam and I love these for smooth blending. I just keep one for each general color family - reds, blues, yellows, greens.

It is anew video this morning with Nichol Spohr, and they are called Inkylicious Ink Dusters. There is a video using it with waffle flower stamps.

I have stencil brushes but I think these are softer judging by the light touch she used.sorry I can't link.you could also try Pinkbuckaroo her blog.

I would love some clarity brushes! They look awesome.

I think this is the video you are talking about.

The double sided is a plus. I wouldn't mind having a coup,e, but for most things, I use the round blending tool. But there are times when a lighter touch would be nice.

Funny - I was just going to say I don't love the double sidedness, and if it weren't for that I'd be tempted to try one.

But I have Clarity, which I love, and just heard back after emailing the company to ask if using them for both water colors and water based ink was okay. They said it was fine so I guess I don't need more. (Need, want, different things. ;))

BTW, Clarity brushes prices have been dropping. Hallmark has the set of four for $23.75, though they're out now - you can request to be emailed when they're back in stock. They had them last week. I had considered buying another set. Clarity - STENCIL BRUSHES Set of 4 ? Hallmark Scrapbook

Tupelo's Clarity price dropped considerably too, and some others.

SSS has a set of dusters for $21.49. https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/produ...829437-829437I

(I didn't factor in shipping.)

I have the Judikins brand dusters. They are single ended. I love them, and have used them for years. My favorite thing to use a clean one for is brushing off my design after I have colored or erased on the project. A gentle touch and I get no smearing. Fabulous!
I love my clarity brushes for actual blending. Lydia is my greatest enabler. If you follow her blog, you will find many many needs.

I have a set of Clarity and I like them best for stencils because they are pointy and get in the nooks. When I saw the new dusters I thought about a bunch of high quality shaving brushes my husband gets in his Art of Shaving kits. I started using them for ink blending on cardstock and like them better than the Clarity for that. They never leave a little ink point from the tip. I sometimes forget to blot the Clarity's first. If I need a darker color I go in afterward with the sponge tool. Probably this mimics the dusters that have a blend of natural and synthetic bristles. If I had a choice I'd probably get the dusters a second time around.

Ladies, regarding 'colour duster' brushes, it pays to look round, and maybe consider some artist brushes.

These brushes I picked up at at local art/stationery store, and they cost me 3 for two. As I already have a set of Clarity, I know they cost me 20 for a set of four. These paint brushes I bought in a wide range of sizes, giving me a lot of choice for blending, and are as soft, if not softer than the Clarity ones.

This is the first of my backgrounds I made using these artist brushes.

So don't think you have to look just at the 'craft company' brushes. Please don't get me wrong, I love the Clarity brushes, and indeed a huge number of her products, I've met Barbara many times at craft shows here in the UK, and she really is a lovely, genuine lady. But where I can, I will try to save my crafting pennies!

I agree on the dusters. In addition to the shaving brushes I also have some old blush brushes that work well. I tend to use them with one color so I don't have to wash them a lot. The shaving brushes hold up to a lot of soap and water.

I went online to where my husband got his as a kit gift from my son and the lowest priced brush was 60, so definitely NOT there. I gues those double ended dusters that SSS sells are as cheap as anything. Judikins sells a little set of three brushes that look like little shaving brushes to me.

Umm...yeah, that's just a little out of my budget! hahaha...guess I'll have to check out the Judikins or maybe Elf makeup brushes...wonder if they would work? And at $3 or $4 dollars each...they wouldn't break the bank!

Yeah I think that Art of Shaving brush is so over the top. It has a plastic handle and probably cost 6 cents to make. The silver tipped one is 120. Really! I'll be interested to hear what you choose and how it works. I'll want to add a few.

Good to know as I wondered about that. I have several stencil brushes that were used for paint sticks to stencil on fabric. If I recall they are stiffer. Might be a good idea to try out an inexpensive blush brush first to see how you like using this technique.

The old blush brush works pretty well. I'm digging around for some more. Not sure how it will hold up to washing. My old stencil brush, not so good. Makes little dots.

I got some shaving brushes from the equivalent of a dollar store, they work like a charm but I like the idea of Shazsilverwolf using soft artist brushes with a longer handle.....more shopping lol!

I have the Judikins and I am not a fan. They streak on me and the bristles fall out, and just like painting a wall, I have to get it off and then go back and even it out but unlike the wall, this is more ink and possibly changes the shade.

I got the Clarity brushes. They are lovely. I got several packs over time during sales.
They do have a big handle which a person could choke up on (like a baseball bat) but those art brushes Shaz showed us look cool too-smaller handle, easier to store too.

I use a makeup blush brush to get rid of stray embossing powder in open spaces-I like the small handle for tight contol.

I too have some shaving brushes I got at one of our Pound Stores, but find the bristles in them are a little stiffer- maybe because they are cheap!
I loved my paintbrush find, as I bought them in all sorts of sizes from 1" down, which gives some great options for working in/on small spaces.

Good to know as it turns out that all shaving brushes do not work. I'll probably eventually buy the ink dusters since I only have one working shaving brush. Hope they don't shed bristles. So far I haven't lost bristles with my Clarity brushes.
