Default Can you use Wink of Stella

over a stamped image without it running or smearing the ink? It is stamped with pigment ink, but not heat embossed. Thanks!

I would do a test on some scrap paper if I were you. I have used it over memento with no problems most of the time. But every now and then I end up smearing the image. I don't know if it's because I changed paper or squeezed and got extra liquid from the pen or what. The other thing is that if you're worried, just try really hard not to color OVER lines.

I have, without a problem, but I do agree with Emily- paper/cardstock and the particular brand of ink could all make a difference.

Wink of Stella can be a beautiful addition! When using it on images stamped with dye inks, just be sure the ink is dry. If you stamp a flower, then immediately start adding Wink ... there can be some smearing but much less likely when the image has set for just a teeny bit.

I never had problems with ink smearing after using Wink of Stella. I used it with Memento and Versafine ink. But I always add it when the card is finished, which usually does take me some time, so by then all the ink is dry.

I'm a Wink of Stella addict with dye inks and Versafine, but hadn't used it on pigment inks, so just tried it with clear Wink on Mama Elephant, Avery Elle, Studio Calico, and VersaColor pigment inks, ranging from light to dark colors (pale pink, yellow, tangerine, brown).

It reactivated the pigment a bit for every ink, so when I brushed outside lines on purpose, the Wink brush brought a little color with it - a bit like with watercolors.

But depending on the paper, and if you're careful to stay inside the lines, and don't use a lot you might be okay. When I did that it looked pretty much okay but the Wink brush had a tiny bit of pigment ink on it afterwards. It easily came off on scrap paper with swipe.

Forgot: tried it on a Distress Oxide ink (dye + pigment) just for fun and it worked fine, like dye or Versafine.

Just weighing in....I agree with the test. When I use Memento I like to heat emboss with clear just so I don't run into that problem.
I was at a craft show back in April and the demo they were doing was to watercolour using the Winks instead of using a waterpen. I didn't try it (the lineup was too long) but it worked very nicely. I guess it would use up your Winks a lot faster though but would make a lot of the images sparkle.

Would heat setting it with a gun protect it? Sometimes I find for reasons I dont get that heat sets are more stable than air dries depending on the product.

Jennifer McGuire uses it all the time over an ink, then glossy accents it. But I dont know what kind of ink. I want to say copic....but you should check me.

I both air dried and heat set pigment inks for testing. Jennifer McGuire has used dye inks with Wink of Stella (and in general).

I use SU ink (today, in fact) and WOStella and haven't had any smearing.

Default Alternative for Wink of Stella

I've been using the Glitter pens from Sakura for such a long time now. The clear glitter pen is wonderful.

There are a variety of colors as well. I used a glitter red & blue pens for a card I made for Independence day.

I usually stock up on the Sakura brand pens from www://scrapbookpal.com
