Default Best way to clean craft mat?

What do you use to clean your craft mat? I've tried alcohol, Simple Green, soap and warm water and I still have bits of adhesive and glue.:(

A few things I use for glue removal:
Adhesive remover wipes, should be available from your pharmacy.Available on Amazon too. It usually comes in a spray form too.I use this sometimes, has a nice smell, but I get them free as a colostomy patient.
DeSolveIt Sticky Stuff remover, link there to Amazon.com. I found this will dissolve any sticky stuff, even foam tabs residue. Great thing is it has a nice citrus smell, not chemical. This is my personal goto, I just put some onto a dried patch, and leave for 5 or 10 minutes, usually then it come straight off.
Both of the above are also great for de-sticking edges of cutters/scissors/guillotines.
Xyron Adhesive Eraser, also an Amazon link. This is great, and you can also use it on cardstock to erase glue marks. You can just keep trimming off edges/corners as it gets gunky.

I've never had anything on my mat (and I assume you are talking about the Ranger craft mat) that a babywipe and possibly a scrape of a fingernail wouldn't get off. Paint, glue, Glossy Accents, whatever. What is it exactly that won't come off?

Hi. I should have been clearer...I'm talking about a self-healing craft mat with grid lines, not the Ranger craft sheet.

Aha! My mistake. I hear "craft mat" and I just automatically go there....

But I'm glad I posted, because I have one of those cutting mats, and you are right, they are hard to get completely clean. So I'll wait to see what others say. ;)!

A plastic scraper or spatula along with an adhesive remover like Shaz mentioned, if necessary, can work well. We were given a Ranger craft mat scraper in a class kit, which I use on a Ranger craft mat, but should work on a self-healing mat too:

I keep alcohol and adhesive pads on my desk at all times. These work well for me.

Alcohol Pads
Adhesive Remover Pads

Don't use alcohol on it without testing first!!! Alcohol will remove your grid lines, on most self healing mats! Ask me how I know! I totally ruined mine with alcohol. I don't know about the goo gone, didn't try it on my self healing mat. I switched to a glass mat so I can cut and use distress ink techniques and glue without having to switch mats. I still have my distress mat, but I rarely use it. The nice thing about my glass mat is I can also just scrape adhesive off with my craft knife. My glass mat is 12x12.

Thanks for recommending DeSolveIt! I like the fact that it's organic and it worked like a charm. My craft mat is like new!

I have a Martha Stewart mat and I use citrasolv and a paint scraper. I wipe on the citrasolv, let it soak, and go after it with my scraper. The scraper is really sharp and get's all the gunk off. I follow up with 409 to make sure there is no oily residue from the citrasolv.

I also use citrasolv to clean my tools (scissors, tweezers, etc.). I let it soak a bit and wipe with a paper towel.

So happy it worked for you. Definitely a product that deserves to be on every crafters shelf.
