I'm not copic certified, just learning as I go. Thanks, Faith.. for the link to the Harbour Freight compressor. I received mine last Friday, and have been playing with it all weekend!! So glad I got it!! I have found your copic tutorials very helpful, so please don't stop doing them!! I don't know about any of the other compressors out there, but the Harbour Freight one is not noisy at all. I can talk on the phone with it on.

You have GOT to be kiddin' me!!!! Totally not funny...but totally IS funny! That's crazy. WOW!
well i busted out my new HF compressor and it works like a charm!!! no flying objects hitting me in the head..lol
i love it and cant imagine not having one of these babies!!
Congratulations, Elke. You will love your airbrush! I found that you can make the Ciao markers work fairly easily by winding a rubber band around the barrel before inserting it into the airgrip. Then just adjust it so the tip sticks out the proper length and airbrush away!
I've been reading through these posts but haven't gone through all of them. I was really excited to hear about the Central Pneumatics 1/8th compressor from Harbour Freight, but they don't deliver to Canada, and I'm in Canada. I've checked Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Lordco, and KMS tools (DH recommendation) and all I can find are 90+psi compressors (and they are all 2-3x the price). Anyone know where in Canada to get this, or if there is a us retailer who would deliver to Canada?
I have the airbrush system but unfortunately the classes do not extend to my part of the world :( Anyone want to come to Australia LOL!
I have seen your tutorials on your blog Faith and I think go for it if you have the time. I think it is good for people to see the different things you can airbrush and even if they know how to use it ... it is still more inspiration ... and there are tons out there that don't and will find this a useful resource when they finally do purchase one.
Australia is on the top of my travel list.....I'll come help you ;)

As an FYI, Harbour Frieght WILL deliver to Canada (Yay!) so if you are a fellow Cdn this is still a viable option.
Help please! I am VERY interested in getting the aircompressor at HF--but what exactly do in need ?? Do I need a whole Copic kit if using with the compressor and if so which kit?? Do I need an adaptor?? Also do I need a hose?? and if so what size?? kind of confused here! TIA!!!
See above. Based on this I think you just need the compressor plus the one item from copic. The compressor is about $70US, the thing from copic at my local craft store is $45CDA. and you need to have copic markers to use in it, in whichever shades you feel you'll need. Technically it only fits sketch, but I've seen video tutorials where folks are using their ciaos by using different means of filling in the extra space (since the cioas are smaller than the sketch). the shipping to where I am (will depend where you are, I think) is about $35US.
Thought I would give an update. I now have both the Harbor Freight and the one from Copic - Windstorm AC-101 by Sparmax. I tested them both side by side for the noise. The Windstrom is about 1/2 as loud the Harbor Freight one.
I've read this thread and want to thank everybody for contributing!
I didn't even realize that we have HF here in California! I found one a few miles from me, and then when I looked at the local ad, I found this on sale for $70:
Ted,
I'm not sure if this is too late to be any help, but I clicked on your link and was able to download the product manual for that compressor. It looks like it does have a pressure regulator that allows you to adjust the air pressure from 0 - 120 psi. My only concern is that condensation will accumulate in the air tank and there is nothing to collect the moisture before the air gets blown through your pens. The product manual also says to drain the air tank at the end of each day to expel the moisture and prevent corrosion inside the tank.
Harbor Freight also sells a couple of other tankless & oilless air compressors that other people in this forum have used to airbrush with great results. One person likes the one with 40 psi. I haven't used it yet, but I purchased the 100 psi compressor because it was on sale for the same price as the 40 psi model, which has a pressure regulator so that I can adjust the pressure.
It's smaller (MUCH smaller!) and seemed more practical.
I do have a question, however.
I live in a mobile home and I have a screened in porch/room. It gets fairly cold out there (although I do live in California!) and wondering if that's any harm? I am sure people keep their compressors in their garages in the New England area, so I don't THINK it is harmful, but want to see if I should just store it inside?
Also, I saw no place where I can "drain" the compressor, so not sure what to do about the possible condensation.
I didn't have to buy any additional parts. I bought the Copic Airbrushing kit ABS-1. Easy to put together and use. I suggest using a 3M painter's mask with it if you're using it in your craft room. I set up a station in the garage near the back door to use mine (also using the mask) to make sure there's enough air circulation and I don't inhale the alcohol.

Ted,
Great choice. This is the one that 'markies mom' likes. Since the model you bought doesn't have an air tank, you don't need to worry about draining the moisture out of it.
Based on the product manual for this model, it looks like there is a built in water drain (the clear plastic piece beneath the control knob) that will catch the moisture as the air passes through it. On page 4 of the manual, it says to drain the compressor every day using the water drain valve, but ONLY when there is less than 10 psi in the compressor. I guess you should press the valve on the airbrush to release the pressure built up in the system before using the water drain valve.
I'm not sure what the cold will do, but i would think that it should be ok since most people store their tools in the garage. The manual just says to store the Air Compressor in a clean, dry, safe location.
I have the "Markies mom" one and love it too! No issues, no probs. I want to thank Faith for steering me to an affordable compressor that does all that I want it to.
OMGosh...I had no idea this thread was still active! How wonderful that people are loving that compressor...My compressor is in my office on the floor beside my stampin' table. It's feeling neglected, since I started using Palette Inks...I guess I better whip out a scene or two or three! LOL
Faith
Thanks Faith for starting this! I LOVE my compressor (from HF!) -and all the help from those on this thread to figure out what I needed. Also got great info on cleaning Nesties after using with the airbrush-now using hand sanitzer!! and large a large magnet mat from the $store) to hold the nestie in place-just need to get a cheap plastic turntable!
Thanks to all!!
I hadn't found this thread until I PM'd Markie's Mom for info I knew she had shared many months ago. I can't thank you enough, Faith, for pointing me here!
