Question Why is my Crop-o-dile taking the paint off my eyelets?

Hi,
I got the Crop-o-dile about a month ago but just took it out of the package today. It always seemed a little intimidating! Anyway, I followed the instructions on the back of the package to set a 1/8" eyelet, but after 3 tries, it still takes the paint off the top of the eyelet every time. I am not squeezing it too hard - that is what I thought was the problem, but the last time, I squeezed very gently, and still - paint cracked and peeling.

What am I doing wrong? I haven't read any complaints about this, so I am sure it is operator error.

Thanks,
Connie <---- who really wants to love her Crop-o-dile

Wow, I don't know what to tell you. I haven't had this problem. Maybe it's the brand of eyelets. Do you h ave a different brand you can try?

I would agree that it is probably the eyelet not the Crop-A-Dile that is the problem. I havent used any eyelets accept SU! so I dont have anything to compare with.
HTH.

I haven't had a problem with my CAD taking paint off....I did have one tiny box of cheapo eyelets that the paint chipped off of if you looked at it wrong...so it prolly is just the eyelets. ;)

Or try a different setting - I had that happen and i just moved the dial that is how the back flattens to one that didn't take the paint off of them. There is one setting that really smooshes them especially ones that are fancy ones.

Did you punch the hole first?? I found that when I first tried my CAD I didn't punch the hole first, and just drove the eyelet thru the c/s and that wore the paint off. I'm a newbie with eyelets though, so I didn't realize punching the hole first would help. lol

Hmmm. I haven't had this problem with mine. I mainly use Making Memories eyelets (at least will until I run out and then will switch to SU). I agree with other posters that it's probably the brand of eyelet.

I am using eyelets that I bought from Impress Rubber Stamps...I don't think I have any other kind. However, those have stood up to me hammering them with a hammer. I tried switching the settings, and while that helps a little, the eyelet stays very "loose" in the paper. Is it supposed to do that? When I hammer them with a hammer, it seems to me that they are not as bulky and much tighter...

I would take it back, but I have already thrown away all the packaging...I guess I will just use it as the most expensive hole puncher ever.

Thanks for all your suggestions!

Connie
