I don't know about magnetic tape but you could buy the Avery magnet printer sheets from Wally's and cut them down and xyron them or something. It's about $7
Yep, I just bought a couple of rolls at Michaels last week. Think they were $1.69 each for a 30" roll. It was hanging on an end rack. JoAnn also sells it.
I bought mine at Wal-mart. They used to have it in the school/office supplies section, but they moved it to the crafting section. It wasn't very expensive and I found that I needed 2 rolls to do all eight of my Nestabilities cd cases.
Home Depot. Their magnetic tape was much stronger than the stuff from Staples & Michaels. Some of my nesties didn't stick. The tape from Staples didn't stick at all (either to the CD case OR the nesties!)
If I use the magnetic tape in the CD cases with my dies... do I need to use the big thick CD cases that I use for my stamps or can I use the newer thin cases that they sell nowadays??? Anyone know??? I bought 7 sets at a stamp show tonight.... I'm going to get a few more tomorrow. Thanks!

I found the rolls of tape at Michaels. I first made the mistake of buying the magnetic sheets at Office Depot planning to cut them into strips. They were worthless - almost no magnetic quality at all! They might hold up a piece of lightweight paper, but didn't even stick to the nestabilities. But the rolls of magnetic tape at Michaels were great.
The rolls are not actually magnetic tape. It comes in a coil and is sticky on one side (peal the paper off). You cut it into what size pieces you need. That would be the best for magnetic power. Not very expensive especially when on sale.
The sheets that you can purchase in some craft stores and certainly at office supply stores is really for making business cards or signs.....things that are very light weight and would be put somewhere and left alone. They are very thin to go through your printer. That's why their magnetic power is not all that great, but they are good for fridge magnets for just decoration. Also not really good for holding metal items. Can run $7 in a dollar store or even $12 in an office supply store. I do use this, but not for craft things.
Has anyone tried the magnetic paint that's available? I want to magnetize a piece of paper, like 8x10, and then attach magnets to it for a memo board. Thanks.
All the craft stores should carry the tape, its usually in the section with all other glues, velcros, that type stuff.
Although I would like to make a suggestion. Not sure if you have one, but the Xyron (510) makes rolls of magetic adhesive. For my nesties, I took sheets of chipboard and ran them thru the Xyron so the one side is magnetic then put nesties on it. The width is perfect for nesties. I just made a binder like that, punch holes with cropadile and put binder rings thru. Its very handy and easy to flip thru to which one I want instead of searching thru cd cases. But you could even just use the Xyron magnet in cd cases too.
I got mine at Michaels and used a 40% off coupon. It was $6.49 for 25 feet so really cheap with the coupon. I used it for my nesties in CD cases and it is such a great solution.
Blessings.
I didn't have any CD cases, so I just cut squares of corrugated cardboard and attached the tape to them. I keep the squares with Nesties attached in a photobox.
