I see cards like this one IC138 - Get Well Soon, inspired by Papertrey Ink by allnitescrapper at Splitcoaststampers all the time and I wonder what do you all do with the ends of the ribbon? Are they tied on the back? Do you have then ends glued down on the back side and showing? or do you glue them down and put another piece of cardstock over top of them to hide them? or do you just trim them to the edge of the cardstock? Do I just overanalyse everything?
Ok, I know the answer to the last question is yes, but I still want to know what you all do with your ribbon ends?
I usually secure ribbon on the back with a glue dot and/or scotch tape. Glue dots usually do the job :-) but sometimes in the humidity, scotch tape works quickly and easily.

So do these ribbon ends show when you look at the inside of the card?
I always use a glue dot; sometimes I will staple. And yes the ends show on the inside of the card. I never worry about it. Sometimes I don't have ends because I tie it all the way around the front and inside of the card. It depends on what I am doing.

I think it is really personal preference. I can't stand to see anything on the inside of my cards ~ no ribbon, no brads, no eyelets, nothing! So for me, I layer mine ~ usually my cards have a solid base and the layers are on top of that. Instead of a layer on the inside of the card. But that is just me.
Same here...the vast majority are layered, I use vanilla, white or kraft for my base (with matching envelope) and then build on a background piece, so if there is ribbon wrapped around it, the ends are tucked between the base and the first layer.
If I decide the ribbon needs to go all the way around the entire card, or I built on my base, I go all the way around the inside of the card and still secure it with glue dots so it's nice and tight.
The card in the link you showed actually looks like the ribbons are trimmed neatly at the edge of the card....which if you used a bit of Fraycheck on the ends, would probably look fine with that style.

I try to do the same thing with having the ribbon wrapped around the first layer, as I too do not like anything on the inside of the card. On the link you showed, if I had made that card, I would have wrapped the ribbon all the way around and then found something ( a flower or something) to "hide" the end of the ribbon on the front side.
Making Memories has a ribbon glue that works GREAT!!! I use it all the time with my ribbon now and it does not seep through the ribbon and dries clear! I love it!
I seal the ends of my ribbons by singing quickly with a lighter. It keeps them from fraying. I use doublesided tape because I find that glue dots show. Or one neat way to work with ribbon is to stick it to a band of cardstock then you can wrap the end around the back of your cardstock strip & stick the whole thing onto your card. Hides the end (and if you're like me and have a hard time with ribbon, you don't wreck your card because you can work the ribbon until you get it how you want it, and then stick it on.) :0)
I'm another who doesn't like to see any of the 'mechanics' of a card on the inside. All my cards are made using a card front that's slightly smaller than the card base. I add all the embellishments, then adhere it to the base. I like the inside to be neat and clean.

Same here! I like a clean card

Yes, to me a clean card is the only way to go. Everything should be hidden behind the layers and no brad "legs" or tape showing. It just looks so much more professional that way. After spending your money on the stamps, paper, inks etc. you sure want it to look "finished".

I concur!! I would feel like my card was only half done with out a layer to hide the uglies!

Where can I get this Fraycheck? So many ribbon ends fray and it drives me crazy!
Regarding my ribbon...sometimes I wrap it around the entire card, if I put a small sentiment on the top half with a handwritten not on the bottom. Then I don't mind the ribbon on the inside. But if I am using the entire inside for my note/letter, I wrap the ribbon around a layer and attach with glue dot or double stick tape

I do the same thing, I make my card as a card front and everything gets put to the back of this and then it gets attached to a white or vanilla base.

It's in the sewing notions area...at Joann, or Walmart...etc. It's a tiny bottle with a blue cap. It seals teh ends clearly and cleanly and you wouldn't know it was there once it dries unless you feel it...it will be a little crispy feeling at the edge.

Another vote for neat and tidy on the inside of the card. I use my ATG as some of the glues/adhesives will bleed through the ribbon and may cause a stain all the way through to the front of the card.
I often cut a piece of printer paper slightly smaller than the dimensions of the card and adhere it to the inside like a liner on the front panel of the card. It ends up hiding all the sins, and you can stamp it to match the outside of the card. It also gives a nice surface for writing inside the card.

You can roll ribbon through either a 150 or 250 Xyron...peal off the liner, adhere the ribbon to the front of the card and cut away excess even with the edges of the card. BTW: to eliminate sticky edges with Xyron, burnish, burnish, burnish the back of the liner before removing it.
I've actually been using clear nail polish to seal the ends of my ribbon when I cut them at the edge of a card...does anyone know how this compares to Fraycheck? Is Fraycheck better in some way? Just curious... :-D
