I was wondering what you all use to attach bows to cards. I have been using Zots glue dots, but all too often the ribbon comes loose from the glue dots. :( The glue dot seems to stick well to the paper, but not to the ribbon. I would really love to find something that holds better. Crystal effects? Tombo Multi? Have you had experience with using either of these for ribbon? I would really welcome your suggestions!
I use a Ribbon glue, either the one I have gotten from Making Memories or I have found one that I get at Hobby Lobby. There is also one I have used called Zip Dry. Works great but is a pain to keep and sometimes to get out of the container.
Cheers, Holley

Scor tape definitely! Or the Sookwang brand of the same exact tape: Sookwang Tape
I use it almost exclusively for ribbon, or other hard-to-stick embellishments like metal.
Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! I don't have any of these things at home, so I am going to have to do some shopping. I have a question about how you would use Scor tape for a bow. I have used something similar for adhering a strip of ribbon. But when all you are going to attach is a bow, how much do you use? Is a small square of it behind the knot of the bow enough to make it stay on well? TIA!
With getting glue dots to stick to unusual surfaces, put the two together, and then get your heat embossing tool and heat it. Be careful not to put the tool too close to the ribbon you only want the dot to soften a bit then put your finger down and squish it. Never budge.
I always grab my old standby of the Ailene's Super Tacky Glue or hubby's carpenter's white glue. Just a dab and put a bit of wieght on it for a few minutes and presto - holds anything.
I don't like Zots brand myself. I use the Glue Dots brand to attach my bows. I use one or more dots for the knot (depending on how big it is) and one dot for the back of each loop. I might also put a dot behind each tail if I feel it needs it.
I've used every brand of glue dots I could find. They all have the same problem with releasing ribbon. If you don't notice it immediately, you do when it's spent some time in your card box or made it through the mail. I can't tell you how many cards I've gotten from people that have used glue dots and that have a bow that's fallen off in the mail.
I use my ATG to attach ribbon. I have used Mono Multi, but only in a pinch, and only if I'm using it under the knot of the bow (as it'll bleed through at lot of ribbon and show and if I put it under the knot it has too many layers to bleed through to show).
I also use Zip Dry. It tends to not bleed through ribbon and holds extremely well. And, if you get too much glue on there, just wait for it to dry and rub it off!

Scor-Tape for me too! I use a strip (usually 1/8" width) long enough to run along the back from one bow tip to the other. Since I usually do double loop bows, I also use this to help the bow loops stay separated. I've never had a bow disengage from the card using Scor-Tape (Sookyang) tape.
Try it, you'll love it!
Blessings,
Kat
P.S. 7 Kids College Fund has excellent prices on Sookwang stuff. I bought two rolls (1/4" and 1/8") back in January and I've still got enough for several more months. Probably only half used so far!

A dab of HOT GLUE does the trick for my cards! I use it on anything that is stubborn when gluing!

Yes, a small piece of Scor or Sookwang tape is all you need. I usually use the 1/4" width and cut a little strip just the size of the knot. But if it's a tiny bow like the one here, I use the 1/8" and it stays put really well:
I have been using Beacon's 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue for quite a while. It is crystal clear, instant grab and fast drying. It works very well for ribbon and embellishments. Sometimes I even use it to adhere paper to paper if I really need to get into tight corners. (I am obsessive about having my paper glued down on the edges totally!) The price is very reasonable. I got it at Joann's. Here is the link:
