I use something similar to this, only it's by 3M. It works very well for layering cards - sometimes it doesn't stick all that well, but 95% of the time, it's great. If I need something to REALLY stick, Terrifically Tacky Tape is for me.
After the last rah-rah mono multi thread, I ordered some, and spaz out with it, I always end up with schmutz on my paper and sticky fingers, am I using too much? Is there a mono multi for dummies tutorial?

I agree...I have glue everywhere!! I'm not a fan....even though it ends up being costly..I run everything thru my Xyron...I buy the permanent and have never had it peel up. I buy at least one cartridge a week...I have the 510 and the 250.
This is my fave too! I stock up when it's on sale (HL usually runs it 50% off every few weeks) - and I have a couple of cheap 'backup' runners on hand if I happen to run out and have to finish the project right away....
As for ribbon, I have some very small glue dots that work pretty well, as htey are small enough I can smooth them out under the ribbon and you can't really feel any "bumps" from the dot.

For me, it just took practice. When I first tried it, I got too close to the edges of the paper a few times, and had it smoosh out. Luckily for my card, the SU adhesive remover really helped get the sticky off, so it wasn't ruined. Now that I've practiced many times, I very rarely get a smoosh (lol @ smoosh). Though the tendency is usually to get the glue on the very edges, with this glue it's best if you apply a little more inward. Hope this helps!

Well, there is a bit of a learning curve because it is a liquid and you have to get used to that.
I use the pointy end and make a skinny line 1/8th of an in or so from the edge. If I get it too thick anywhere - I just use the tip to kinda spread it inward a bit. I will also run a fingernail along any edge that squirts any out. once it dries on you finger, it rubs right off anyway.
Yes, mono tape runners don't do that - but they also don't hold cardstock together either. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was a card I had sitting on my husbands dresser - every time I walked by it, I had to squeeze the layers back together. Not anymore! now, it would rip the cardstock to take it apart.
I have never tried the ATG gun, but I don't have a lot of space around my grid paper and I like the smallness of mono multi - plus I use it at stamp camp and I couldn't provide ATG guns for everyone! Believe me - if my campers can figure it out - you can too! promise! They don't even stamp outside of my classes!
I posted this website on another thread, in case you missed it, this is a great price for the ATG gun, they are offering extra 20%, thru May. Believe me, you won't regret purchasing the ATG, LOVE mine!
Scotch Quick Dry Tacky Adhesive is what I use. I think it's awesome and have it stockpiled. I started using it back in October and I'm still using the first bottle I bought. A little goes a long way!
Scotch Quick Dry Tacky Adhesive gets my vote also. I am on my second bottle of this and I use it on everycard I make. I LOVE IT!
Does anyone else use a regular glue stick (acid-free, of course)?
I use this when it's paper-to-paper. I bought a 12-pack from Sam's club and it seems to work great.
For other things, I use glue dots. Zots are my favorite.
Another convert to ATG, got mine from Framing Supplies.com, great price and good delivery. No more lifting layers, and after the intitial purchase, the refills are cheaper than the mono refills. Just my thoughts on it. Oh, another thing,
the gun runs over the brads quite nicely, this had always been a problem for me.
I've found that good old Scotch brand double stick tape works for me. I hate the tombo, but still use it to adhere ribbon because I like the way you can run it along the length of the ribbon. It doesn't pop up with the ribbon like it does with the cs.
Yeah I like that one too ...but use my little X for my ribbons
I still use the mono adhesive. I have tried many others, but always go back to the other. The scotch brand always unraveled for me, the red ones shown above always gave 1/2 a strip of adhesive. I looked around & found someone thru google that sells the refills for $2.37 a refill, I buy them in bulk & haven't seemed to run out yet. At my workshops I sell them for $3.00 each & still make a little money off them.
I recently switched to mono-multi which I currently love. However, this ATG thing may be on my list of "to check out" supplies. This site gets me into trouble!
the ATG has my vote. I love my ATG gun! it's the cheapest longest lasting most sticky adhisive I've found. and I've tried a lot of adhesives. it's my favorite!
don't get me wrong there are other good adhesives. for wet application glues I do like mono multi, and glue dots are my friend. and I love glue sticks for kids! (I don't use 'em though hehe) and mono gets used from time to time in my house still (untill I run out of refills that is). but my ATG is my favorite!
I received so many cards that are falling apart because people used Mono. I've never purchased it because of that fact. Shanon's ATG gun suggestion is the best. I personally use a double sided tape that I get from the man who makes my car club's trophies. It is REALLY sticky and not too expensive (72 yards for $10). The better part of the ATG gun is that you can put the adhesive on without touching it. I cut small tabs and have to touch mine BUT I also can put my tape on all of my pieces and assemble later as it has a covering on it.

I'm a recent convert to Mono Multi and plan to use it pretty exclusively. I'm tired of Mono-Adhesive--it's embarrassed me to see a card I gave someone falling apart when they had it displayed.

This is what I use. I have been using it for almost a year now. I don't even own a tape runner anymore. You can get a 4 oz bottle and it lasts for months. Mine lasts 3-4 months and it cost $4.99 It is a good deal and and awsome product!

I like the Xyron tape runner. I had been using my Stampin Up tape runner and all of my layers fall off! Very embarassing! I am going to look into the ATG gun.
Wendybell is in my downline swears by hers, so I had her order one for me...it should be arriving today and I am trying to "wait patiently" to give it a try.

Okay so I forgot to say what she swears by her ATG...so I should have my own opinion soon.

My SIL bought that for us to try. It doesn't hold well at all. I hope you have better luck than we did.
I bought the ATG a couple weeks ago and already gave it away. I have limited space and it wasn't worth the hassle of finding a spot to store it or just having a convenient spot to put it down when working on a card. Great adhesive and if I ever get a nice craft room I'll buy another, but right now my space is too small and the gun is too big. Maybe I should sell the house so I can get another ATG. hahaha
I keep the Mono adhesive around for ribbon and paper flowers; but my main adhesive is SU mini glue dots. My friends think they are too cumbersome to use, but I love them. They never shift or come apart and sometimes, not always, if I have to take something apart it isn't ruined.
I may have to give the Mono Multi a try. Sounds like a good alternative when stamping outside my home.
I, too, have the ATG gun on my wish list, but in the meantime, I discovered Zip Dry and have to give my two thumbs up for that wonderful adhesive. It truly does not warp even the thinnest papers I've tried it on. I apply a thin line of glue about 1/16 to 1/8 inch from the edge of the paper and when I place it onto my mat paper or another piece of paper, the glue spreads to the edge and holds tightly. I have found that there is a little bit of working time to slide it around if you don't have it exactly where you want it, and, on occasion, I've been able to lift a piece of paper and re place it. If any glue does ooze, it rubs off like rubber cement and does not stain the paper it oozes onto like other glues. Yay!! And it goes a very long way, so you'e saving money. I am looking forward to the day I can get an ATG gun, but in the meantime, Zip Dry is my choice.
I love love love my ATG. One thing I discovered is that if you get the tape in the wrong place, it rubs right off without damaging your paper! But once you stick it down, it STAYS! It is so much cheaper in the long run than other tapes. It is great for sticking 1/4 ribbon, lines it perfectly.
My SIL bought that for us to try. It doesn't hold well at all. I hope you have better luck than we did.
Okay, you're completely right. I am new to this so I was just using what we had around here. I went to look in the box that has all of the cards that I've made so far and some of them are falling apart!
So I am re-reading this whole thread to decide what I want to buy. I think I will try the Scotch Quick Dry Tacky Adhesive but I'm not too thrilled about using a liquid. I have a cat who loves to hang around my craft stuff and a very *sweet* active 5-year-old. I have the CM tape runner but I don't like those or any of the tape runners that are out there. I'm not sure what else to try.
Can I just say THANK YOU to everyone giving their opinion on this thread. It is SO wonderful and helpful. I love you guys! :p
OK, you've talked me into an ATG but what size ?? 1/2 inch with an adapter for 1/4 inch or the 1/4 inch ATG. It's confusing to me. Nobody mentioned size. By the way, I'm new to this.
