Ok so did Tombo change up their mono?? The case is different and I don't know if it is just my area but they don't sell the refillable ones anymore! ACK. I really liked that brand.
Looks like I need to test out some other brands. What other kind of adhesives do you use? I have tried the one from Wal-mart but it broke of me twice? Any suggestions????
My sister has some like mono that is from Duck brand- the guys who make Duck Tape. She says it works great and doesn't come unstuck. I haven't tried it yet, I just bought 3 refills for my mono.
Do you use the Tombo brand?? I have been searching for refills for 3 weeks now and no one has them. Weird. I have never heard of the duck brand. Where do you get that at?
I use the Mono (tombow brand) too. I get refills at Office Max for 2.99, and sometimes our Michael's has them in stock and I use the 40% coupon to get them for about $2.39.
I've tried a few others and haven't found one I like, but occasionally I use glue dots.
Last week I purchased the refills at www.business-supply.com they were $2.59 each and free shipping for orders over $45. They also sent a coupon for 10% off my next order. They were delivered by the UPS second day.

I can't remember where she got it. I'll have to ask her.

Tombo
Yes I noticed too that the new ones are not refillable... ans a lesser amont i it too...but out Michaels still has it... Viking of course and I think ABC Products .com and some of the other online sites... not sure why unless the are going to make refills "exclusive" for SU????
Man, I just searched on Office Max and Viking and cannot find the refills. I'm gonna be sorely disappointed if they've phased it out, and made it SU only for TWICE as much! :(

Hope that helps!
I usually get mine at Office Max but they told us they no longer sale the refills, grrr. So then I have been checking Michaels in my area but they also don't sell the refills. I thought that it was just me, LOL. The new dispenser is just weird to me.

I just checked Viking and they are definitely there - just search "tombow" and then choose the subcategory "Adhesive Film Dispensers & Refills" (it should show 4 matches) - you can either get the whole refillable dispenser or just the refills - $2.99 if you order 6 or more, and free shipping if you order more than $40 worth.
Kim - I am not sure what you mean when you refer to a "new" dispenser. I know they changed the dispenser several years ago, but as far as I know nothing has changed recently. However, I do think Tombow makes a totally separate mono dispenser that is not refillable. I accidentaly bought one of those a couple of years ago and was not pleased at all. Is that what you are thinking of?
Joann's carries the Duck brand adhesive. I have used it and like it. You can get individual packages or a multi pack of 4, I think. However, they are not refillable - at least the ones I have seen. I don't know if they make a refillable kind. I don't remember the prices on it since it has been quite a while since I bought it.
Thanks Britta and Jen - Looks like I will be ordering from Viking then. Jen the only dispenser that I can find in my area is a non-refillable one - it is different than the refillable one.
Tombo refills you'll get from viking will fit the SU cover. I have both ( the old Mono Tombo from SU and the new SU cover) and the viking refils work for both... I ordered a lot from viking. Love this stuff.

I bought one of those by mistake and was kind of annoyed with myself. It was pretty cheap and I thought they had changed to new packagaing and I was getting a great deal.
The nonrefillabe is not new. Some stores carry just the nonrefillable, some carry both..you do have to be careful ..it looks pretty much the same, you just need to read the package carefully.
I use the Fiskars tape runners. Just recently saw them at Archivers ($7.99). However, since my husband works at Fiskars, I had him order 16 of them for me at a fraction of the retail cost. Love that employee discount. The quality is excellent---very similar to the Creative Memories tape runner.

The duck adhesive is found at Walmart, but it is in with the office supplies and not on the scrapbook aisle. I also live in Round Rock and I have seen it in the store on 79 near the index cards. It's red. I have never used it, but am seriously contemplating it. The ladies at a stamp-a-stack that I went to this last weekend all use it.

I have been buying the Duck brand from Wal-Mart ($8.97 for a 4-pack in my store) and love them. It sticks real good. I seem to have problems with the Tombow...when I roll it half the adhesive comes back up....this doesn't happen with the red Duck!

They are pretty cheap and for some reason I keep holding it upside down, grrr.
okay, I just switched adhesives. I moved to Tombow Mono Multi. It's a liguid white glue that dries clear. It dries fairly quickly too. It was difficult to get used to the switch, but I LOVE LOVE the way it holds. You can't take it apart without tearing it!
Here's a link to it...I tried mono aqua too and hated it. But mamak and I both switched to the mono multi.
Another vote for the Duck brand adhesive! I used to use the Fiskars tape runners, but I can't find them any more. I bought them all when WM had them on clearance. Now I love that I can get 4 dispensers every 2 weeks or so while I'm doing the normal shopping.

Oh I have some of that! I was just using it for small items that I cut out, Hmmm never thought to use it for adhesive. It doesn't make the card stock curl or bubble when you apply a lot? I have never used the broad tip before!
Just kidding I have Mono Aqua. I haven't seen the Mono Multi before.
Barbra, I'm not home right now, but if you want me to mail you a card made with mono multi so you can test it out (see if it comes apart... see if it is ripply, etc....) I'd be glad to! I know I was afraid to invest in much of it before I'd tried it and seen how it works!
Sweet Miss Daisy sells it in her ebay store so we bought one to try before buying a bunch!
While I would absolutely love a card from you mamaK, I completely take your word for it. I'm gonna check the craft store after I pick up the kiddos today (gosh... better get going!) I'll be sure to give you my input. If they have it. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
MamaK (congrats on being published!!) --can you give the link to Sweet Miss Daisy's store??? I saw her post and wanted to try that glue, but I too wanted to just try one bottle.
I'm kinda agro with Viking right now because they never sent me my backordered envelopes but they did send the Tombow I ordered because I felt guilty about the 1 cent envelopes! Ha! Who's got the last laugh? I noticed the packaging was different too.
BTW, Scotch has paper glue with a "try it for free" coupon inside it...Michaels didn't have those bottles but AC Moore did. I do like it and it's normally only $3.99 and doesn't wrinkle either!
I like the Trio adhesive. There are 3 different widths in on dispenser and each width is individually refillable. Plus there are more inches in a refill than with the Tombow so the price ends up being equivalent. It is PERMANENT. Once you stick the layer down it is down. However my layers don't fall apart either. I still use Tombow quite a bit but if I'm doing something where I want it to stay I use the Trio. It's great for thicker cardstock like Stardream or the SU Metallics.

The Tombow Mono Liquid is the white and green bottle in the Supplies section.
I have never used the broad applicator tip. I only use the small end, and I only put a thin line of glue around the edges of my layer, and maybe an X in the center -- but that's it. ..and when I say a thin line, I mean like as thin the the ball on a ball-point pen. ;) The glue goes a LONG way. It holds paper layers better than any thing I've seen in papercrafts.
