Tim Holtz Stamping platform vs Vaessen Stamping Platform
Over the weekend I was looking at stamping platforms for a few of my friends that are just getting into stamping. On Amazon this weekend the TH platform was $77 (today it was $44). But while looking I noticed a new brand that looked similar and wondered if anyone had ever used it and how they like it. The brand is Vaessen Crafts, which I have never heard of before. I also noticed in a video by Natasha Foote this weekend that it looked like she used this stamping platform. Would love feedback on how it compares to the TH or just how you like it if you have it. Thanks https://www.amazon.com/Vaessen-Creat...6420734&sr=8-2
After seeing this post I looked at the link to Amazon. I too am interested in hearing from those who have this platform and have used it.
I have "the others "but am always looking for improvements.

Reason: poor typing
The Vaessen looks more like the We R Memory Keepers alignment tool than like the TH platform. Instead of a hinged cover, it has a separate plate with alignment pegs that you have to carefully place over pegs and push down to contact the paper. It also is a UK product that ships internationally.
Here's the WRMK one to compare: https://www.scrapbook.com/store/wr-p...BoCLk0QAvD_BwE
It works with magnets on one side instead of hinges. I was concerned that it would be a challenge to line up those magnets, but it's really no work at all, and I think it works great. I like that it self-adjusts to cushioned rubber vs clear stamps, the price is very not painful, and the magnets already have covers, so you don't have to put washi tape around them. I was actually pleasantly surprised with it.
Cbet- thanks for your input. I have a question, when I watch videos it seem both sides are open. No "lip" to place the paper in the corner to be sure you have point to put back if paper moves. I think I saw it had a ruler but that can be tricky to line back up. I like the TH platform because I can place my paper snuggly in the corner and stamp. Sometimes my paper comes us when I stamp and if I want to stamp again, all I do is put the paper back snuggly in the corner
Fionna: the amazon link you posted is the one I was looking at. With Amazon Prime it ships free :-) I just put the wrong link in. I wanted the hinged one.
Yes - for the Bira. There is a lip on mine to butt your paper up against, but I put down a piece of Sizzix sticky sheet down on the platform, and with that and the magnet, the paper rarely moves. (I've used the sticky sheets on all my platforms - works so much better than just the magnet.)
I also noticed the lack of a lip on this stamping platform, as opposed to the Tim Holtz and the Misti. I guess it would be great if you're using larger sheets of paper (such as in scrapbooking), because then you aren't limited by the size of your platform. I use mine for cards only so far, so find the lip to be helpful. I can butt my card stock up against the corner over and over, if the paper lifts up as I stamp. It's also an easy way for me to line up sentiments and images if I have a right angle to use.
There seem to be benefits to all of the platforms, depending on your need.
