I need help finding a tape I can use on card stock but it has to peel off without tearing my card stock. My project includes taping all four edges of the card stock so I can ink up the center only, then remove the tape to show clean white edges. I tried masking tape and a blue 3M tape and both tore my card stock. I even tried putting the tape on my clothes first to try to help it be less sticky but it still tore my card stock. I have removable scotch tape but it is only about a half inch wide and I'd like at least an inch wide. Most washi tapes are only about half inch too. Really picky, aren't I? LOL
I feel your pain, and I ended up going with this - I use this at all my classes and cut it to the width I want - it's much more economical than tape and doesn't harm your cardstock!
I never thought to look at labels! Interesting! And I'll bet I can buy that locally! Thanks. I can cut those with my guillotine cutter to any size then.
post-it tape like mentioned above, or frog masking tape, the yellow one, it's for delicate surfaces. I use it all the time on cardstock without any problems.
I don't have a project going like Kathy does right now...but I'm happy to hear all these great suggestions for this type of thing when I do need to do something like this.
I've never heard of "Frog" tape, but it looks like a really neat product!

I couldn't find the post it tape locally. I did see the frog tape but was afraid to spend the money until I knew if it would be any better than masking tape. Kaenasmommy, you've used it on card stock and it didn't peel the paper off? I might give the yellow a try. I also will try Lydia's suggestion. Thanks everyone. This sure helps a lot!
I have removable scotch tape but it is only about a half inch wide and I'd like at least an inch wide.
If you're just trying to protect your paper from ink you could use the Scotch tape you have and "extend" it with scrap paper off the back edge, IYSWIM - you don't necessarily need the full width to be tape.
I use blue painter's tape and the wider washi tapes. You could also try using Un-Du to remove your tape. It doesn't leave a residue, and it hasn't damaged anything I've used it on, including photos.
I've used the blue painters tape but even after taping it to my clothes and arm and pulling some of the sticky off, it still tore a layer on my paper. Same with masking tape. I might try the yellow taken that was suggested and the removable layers Lydia mentioned. Thanks for your suggestions!
I use Elmer's repositionable glue stick on whatever size paper I need. It works great and won't tear your paper. I also use it to make post-it notes from my scrap pp that has the design only on one side.
I tried Joannes suggestion since I already had that scotch tape. It does come up clean but I had to be a little extra careful I didn't lift up the extra piece of paper. It would have worked better if I'd have taped from the project to the border rather than put the paper on the project and taped the pieces to each other, if that makes any sense....
I buy the cheapo post-its (3x4") at the $ store when I want something wider than removeable tape/washi/etc. I can re-use it a couple of times and it hasn't torn my paper yet.
I just found three rolls of micropore tape in my bandaid box! However they are only half inch so still the dilemma. Also, the first one I made using it pulled off clean. The second one tore the paper a bit. I just trimmed the white border off so I could use the piece because it was too pretty to toss. I'll go upload it now.
I've had good luck with the yellow painter's tape -- it's made for delicate surfaces.
I've used this too - it was in the hardware store with the other painters' tapes and was labelled for delicate and painted surfaces. Was quite cheap for a big roll (am in Australia).
I bought at the Stamp Show here from them. I love it!
Wow, thank you for the info and tip, Denise!!! This reminds of the Eclipse tape Judikins used to sell, which works great for masks!! I've been looking for a wider roll since they quit carrying it, and you solved my problem!! Thanks again for sharing.......
