Default su watercolor paper

I love the SU watercolor paper but I need alot of it for a project I am doing. Is there anything at Michael's that is similar?

I haven't used SU watercolor paper but my favorite is 140lb cold press. Look in the artist section in Michaels. In my store it's one aisle over from the watercolor pencils, etc. any brand so long as it's cold press. You can also find smooth as well as the texured.

Thanks for the heads-up as I was thinking about this also. Which would be best if you are doing ordinary watercoloring - smooth or textured? TIA!

I have both the SU! water color paper and the cold press. They are very close to the same thing and the cold press at Micheal's is much cheaper.

I usually purchase the watercolor paper pads when they are on sale at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. They work just as good as SU watercolor paper and it is cheaper. Also, you can cut the paper to the size you need. IHTHs

smooth vs texture - the textured can take more abuse (i.e. more water) but it gets down to preference. If you are only doing a bit of watercoloring then smooth is fine, but if you plan to do a lot of blending or color washing, the texture is better.

don't forget you can usually purchase watercolor paper cheaper using a coupon also. I think the craft stores have to cover quality watercolor
paper also. I find the textured harder to get a great stamped imprint though
