Thumbs up SU!'s NEW RIBBON HOLDERS ROCK!!!

Wow, I just got mine from the new Holiday Mini catalog (I'm a demo so I can order early) and I absolutely LOVE these things! If you love embellishing your cards and have lots of pretty ribbon, I highly recommend giving these a try!

I like mine too. I really like that I can pick the stack up and move it to my table. Handy dandy.

My ribbon drawer was a total disaster too, until I got these SU ribbon holders. Sometimes I wouldn't bother to use ribbons on my projects because I dreaded the thought of taking to much time digging thru my stash. But now they're nice and neatly organized and easy to use. Ribbons are fun again!

Once it's fully loaded, is it still sturdy? My fear is once the holder is loaded with ribbon (since it's just hard plastic) it will start to buckle or lean to one side.

Have you found that happening at all?

I don't have them yet, so I can't say from personal experience. But, I did hear someone say that once you put the ribbon in that they are more sturdy than empty.

Mine are also fully loaded with ribbon and there is no buckling or leaning at all. The plastic is pretty sturdy. I don't think it will be a problem, especially since ribbon is not particularly heavy. My impression is that they will last a very long time as long as my children don't try to play soccer with them!

I love mine also and I plan to order another set. It is wonderful to have my ribbon where I am working, yet it is not in my way. No more having to get up and walk across the room everytime I need ribbon. I need more of the small ones to hold the brad/eyelet containers so that they will be close by also. They attach together and I have mine 3 high which comes to about 12" and are very sturdy. Way to go SU!

Default ? for those that have this ribbon holder

My sister just ordered them for us to share and I have one question for those that have it already and it is probably a stupid one, but:
All of my ribbon from SU is loose since I always share with my sister, she cuts off half of it and gives it to me, do I need to put it all on spools to use this robbon holder or can I just pile it all in there and pull out each color individually?
Thanks!

I just received my SU ribbon holders and was hesitant to purchase them because I had just created ribbon boxes for all of my ribbons. Well, I am thrilled!!!!!!!!!!! The SU ribbon holders are so much more efficient than any other system and it is amazing how little space they take. I love them. I only ordered the Medium and Large sizes because I didn't think I would use the small size but I will be ordering the small ones on my next order!

As for loose ribbon, you may be able to put your loose ribbon in the cropper hopper little boxes and store the little boxes upright in the small SU keeper. I think putting the loose ribbon in the keepers would defeat the whole efficiency of the system. I will let you know when I get the small keepers.

The small holders are perfect for SU cording and to hold your eyelet and button containers. I don't have them yet, but read it in the mini--I think. I have the large ones and I LOVE them!

Hi, I am not a dealer but did see the ribbon holders in the mini catalog. Does anyone know how wide they are? I know you can stack them but how many can you stack on top of each other?? Thanks for the info.

my large ribbon holder is about 7 inches wide. the two smaller holders are a little smaller than the large one. they stack on each other--the largest one being on the bottom. i suppose you could stack more than three at once but i'd think it might lose stability.
hth!

Is the ribbon holder on the SU website. I'm looking for a way to store my ribbon. I am in a ribbon swap and will be having 23 3 yard ribbons coming soon.

I agree with everyone...I love mine also! It's great the way they hold so much in a minimum of space.

It is available in the Holiday Mini, I don't think that customers can view it yet. You will be able to view it online as of Sept 1. It is mainly for spools of ribbon. Not sure if that is what you are getting or not. Hope this helps

CrossStreet, the ribbon holders will work great for your ribbon swap IF your ribbon is on spools; not so great for loose ribbon. The holders are not available to see or to purchase on the Stampin' Up! site yet but will be after September 1. Or you can contact a Stampin' Up demo for a hard copy catalog earlier than that. HTH!

Thanks for the info. The ribbon I am getting will not be on spools. I saw on another thread where a woman used a fishing tackle box and that looked neat. I thought about bobbins and making my own cardboard things to wind them on. Not sure what I'm gonna settle on.

CTMH is coming out with a ribbon holder in the September 1 catalog. It holds the mini spools of ribbon. They are also coming out with variety packs of ribbon - different colors, designs, etc. I think you get 4 spools for around $8. Each spool has 3 yards. I don't have a catalog with me, so I'm trying to remember what I saw. The ribbon holder will hold 48 rolls of ribbon and I think it is $19.95. The holder is the same size as the eyelet/embellishment holders. The holder won't work for the large spools of ribbon, but it is perfect for the mini spools. I even saw some of the mini spools at WalMart yesterdday.

One question....One problem I've had with various ribbon holders in the past is that when you go to take a piece of ribbon, the ribbons spools stacked next to the ribbon you're trying to get also unravel. Then I'm left with 3-4 spools that have unwound. Do these SU keepers have that same problem? How do they avoid it, as it looks like the ribbon spools are just sitting in there next to one another?

I really want to buy these, so hope they work! :-)

That's the great thing about these ribbon holders. The other ribbons stay in place while you pull the ribbon you need.

I don't know how they do it but I just checked mine and only one ribbon spool moves while the other spools stay in place. I think it is because the ribbon holder is the exact size for the grosgrain ribbon. I tried it in my large ribbon holder. It holds the grosgrain ribbon. Neither spool on either side of the pulled ribbon moved. Hope that helps. I have the medium and large sizes. I found that the medium size fits all of my various ribbon spools I have purchased at Michael's.

Thanks so much for the info ladies. Very helpful!

Might I ask one more question...how easy is it to remove the individual ribbon spools from the keeper? I ask because I often take a spool of ribbon completely out of the ribbon holder if I'm preparing for a stamp camp or something. For example I might need to see how much of the spool if left etc. Can ribbons be easily taken out and put back in?

Thanks!

Bump. I wanted to know about the question above - is it easy to remove individual rolls??? Is it easy to roll it back up if you pull out too much?

O.K if you have the maximum amount of ribbon (15 spools of grosgrain) in the large ribbon holder, it is difficult to wind the spool back up if you pull out too much. It is made so it is easy to pull one color out without bothering the other colors but the downside is it makes it difficult to put it back on since it is compact. If all 15 spools are in the holder, you have to unsnap the sides to remove the spool, not difficult. If less than the max is in the holder, it is simple to turn the spool diagonally and remove it. Hope this info helps!
