If you want everything to match, stick with SU. The cardstock, ink, markers and decorator paper can all be purchased in color "families." That way, you don't have to use trial and error to get the right color.
Does the SU markers match with the color of the inks? At 3.35 a piece, would I better spend my money buying copic markers?
Yes they do. I would recommend joining a marker club. This is the most efficient way of buying them PLUS you will end up with the case, and the hostess benefits.
I bought 2 cases. One for my customers and the other for ME ;)
It depends on what you want to do. Do you want to go direct to rubber with your markers? Then choose SUs. If you want to color, go for copics(you can find matching sets for SU colors at Ellen Hutson's website!).
Location: prolly in my 'rubber room'... in the mid-west

i agree... the 'marker club' is THE best way to get the set...
i have NO patients! so- i just bought the whole set and added a couple items and made it a party! DURING SAB... 3 free SAB sets, hostess set AND $15 free!
best of all! you don't have to wait 4 months to have them all!!! (oh, and FREE stamps)
please - i would like information about marker clubs as well.
thanks!
Nancy
Google "Stampin Up Marker Club" and a bunch of blogs with clubs pop up. Find one you like (locality, offering the best deal, payment options, etc.) and go for it.
I use my SU markers all the time for all kinds of tasks. I love how they coordinate with the paper etc. No guess work. I appreciate simplification. I have had mine for about 8 years.
Yes, they do match perfectly and they are one of the best investments that I made (did it through a marker club too). Hope you can get yours soon!

I can't afford the copic so it's not an option for me. I have the SU markers and I've had them since they went exclusive (back in the 90's) and they are just as juicy as they were when I bought them. I have added 3 new markers because they weren't available back then. I recommend buying the whole set so you can be your own party. Just add some pads, paper or a stamp set and you get free stuff.
I'm not a demo (used to be many years ago) but I AM a dedicated SU fan. I have over 150 SU stamp sets. Sorry, but you just can't beat them. And their paper.........oh don't get me started...........I LOVE IT! I worked at a printing company and still used SU cs.
don't mean to be a downer.... but the colors are not exactly the same. I've done some "marker to stamp" stamping on the same page as "pad to stamp" stamping and they have been different.... I noticed it with the real red and the pretty in pink.... you'd never find closer, and it might have just been the relative age of each. but not sure. both still "matched" the card stock but not each other KWIM?

I just did the same thing!! How much fun was that?? Loved getting the freebies --- and I am totally loving my markers! I've wanted them for years.
There's a lot of threads discussing the difference between Copic and SU (and other) markers. You might consider doing a search and see what the options are. At the SU convention we learned 20 uses for the markers. They are water-based while the Copic markers are alcohol-based. You can watercolor with the SU markers, but not with the Copics. Copics are great for coloring. You can go to the Copic website to see all the features. Hope this helps a little.

Stampin' Up markers are non-toxic right? I have a small child so I have to check these things. Also, how long do they last? Do you recommend them? Finally, does anyone know how much it costs to get the all of the markers? Does the set come with the neutrals as well?

I just got my first set (earth elements) and LOVE them! I would have waited and bought the whole set but I don't like "Bold Brights" so haven't invested in those colours with anything. Hopefully I'll have the Regals and Subtles in a few months.
