I received an email from hero arts and they have a hexagon background stamp that look so famililar to SU honeycomb emboss folder. I am wondering if anyone has both to see if you could stamp the background stamp and then emboss over that stamped image.
Here is the hero arts stamp: Hero Arts-Hexagon Background

Carolyn, the honeycomb folder is new to the Spring mini. And, the Spring mini was only recently made available to customers on January 3. So, it's very possible that no one has both at this time. Maybe if you can get a measurement on the hexagons, somehow, someone could check it for you. I don't have it yet so I am unable.

Tim Holtz and Cuttlebug also have honeycomb embossing folders. The TH one has bigger honeycombs than the CB one. Don't know if either is size as the SU folder or Hero Arts stamp.
I read somewhere that it is possible SU may offer a hexagon punch in the next catalog that would go with this folder. Not sure if it's true, but that's what I heard.

Hmmmm....how short sighted of them to not have the ef and punch come out at the same time, and a simple stamp set would have been an obvious companion piece. I'm sure they wanted to see how the ef sold, but from a marketing standpoint if you give the customer more than one reason to buy something, the sale is more likely to happen!
As an aside (and not an attempt to hijack the thread), has anyone had a chance to compare the old Close to My Heart hexagon punch (it was a duo punch), with the hexagon size in the SU honeycomb ef?
Never mind my question about the CTMH hexagon punch. I just re-read all the posts and saw the one saying the SU honeycomb measures 3/8" across. Dang! There goes that idea...

I wonder if the smallest hexagon in the nestabilities set would work? I saw the hexagons at Michaels today but didn't take the time to measure it.

I already checked it out, it's too large. Ditto for the Lifestyle Crafts hexagon set (the smallest in it is 1/2"). I've done an extensive search for a small hexagon punch (like Punch Bunch makes), with no luck finding any size of these. :(

Well then I guess my only hope is that rumor is right and SU does come out with a punch in the catalog. But that isn't until June I think....
hate waiting around for someone to create something when you see an idea or a plan. I went shopping out of town, today; at a large craft store and found; a cricket cuttlebug
5 x 7 emboss plate and a border, together. I was sure it is honeycomb, and can be used for that; but, it is chicken wire for the folder name; and a barb wire embosss border plate, also. I checked the rest of the store for a mini square punch, and ek tools has a 1/2 inch mini square punch that can be used for the cut out of designer paper to place n embossed background of honeycomb or chicken wire; fits nicely. Now, I can put that idea together.
Here is that embossing folder compared to SU, and tim holtz: http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/prod...ting/cuttlebug

It shows the dimension of the whole quilt design (grandmother's flower garden design), composed of tiny hexagons around a center. I have no idea what the measurements are for the little hexagons. Perhaps someone has this die and could measure them for us!
Has anyone tried the old CM hexagon punches with it? Between the two punches, there were four sizes of hexagons. Maybe one of those will fit?
It works! It works! The smallest size hexagon in the small one of the old creative memories punch will just fit inside the honeycomb cells of the embossing folder

Lifestyle Crafts (Quickuts) also has a honeycomb embossing folder - It comes in a pack of two - the other folder has bees. The hexagons are about a half inch across.
I have the Stampin Up hexagon embossing folder. I just bought a set of hexagon Spellbinders Nestabilities dies at M's today. The smallest die is very close fit. I'll take that.

Can you give me the specific product number and measurements so I can search on Ebay or buy through a CM consultant!!

Unfortunately, I've had these punches for well over five years - I have no idea what the product number would be. Perhaps there is an SCSer with old CM catalogues that would be able to look up the product number.
All I can tell you is there were two hexagon punches, both of which punch two hexagons - a larger and a smaller. One punch had the largest two sizes, and one punch had the smallest two sizes. The smallest hexagon on the one that did the smallest two sizes is the one that just fits.

I am so excited!!! I have the old Creative Memories little hexagon punch. The number on the box for you who want to know is 6203530703. It has a copyright of 2003. I hope that is the product number for you.
Also, the new hexagon stamps for Close to My Heart coordinate perfectly with the old Creative Memory punches, judging from the catalog picture.
In case you are wondering the Creative Memories larger hexagon punch pair has a number 6203520703.
CTMH doesn't sell the hexagon punches anymore but have a 'punch around the page' punch. (Don't know their name but does the same as the MS ones.) it costs $24 so is pricy. Does anyone know the size of the punched hexagon?
Paper Trey Ink hexagon die plate works very well, I've made lots of cards using the SU embossing folder and the die. You can make a lot of hexagons... I have the dies and the stamps that go with this set. Love it. ~~~~

So you are saying that the PTI hexagon plate cuts hexagons that work inside the lines of the new SU hexagon folder? If the answer is yes, that puppy will be added to my PTI order that is currently on hold, awaiting your reply.
YES YES YES, I've made many cards....It fits inside right up to the embossing folder line. I love the way it looks. I made cards this weekend with Behr paint chips samples and they look great, gives you lots of solid colors to use. The one thing I love about the die is that when you punch out all the hexagons you have an amazing background that looks like chicken wire. The negative side is just as useful as the hexagons. FYI the stamp set that goes with the hexagon dies only has two small hexagons that fit. The smallflower will also work inside along with three sentiments. I wouldn't buy the stamp set but I already had it. MFT dienamics also has a hexagon die but I have not seen it to be able to tell you if it works... Hope that helps. ~~~~
Thanks for the verification about the fit of the PTI plate and also the clarification about the stamp set. Off to take another looky loo at my pending order.

This is good to know. I have the PTI die. I think I will be ordering the SU folder.
Does anyone know if any of these hexagons would fit in the embossing folder? I love that it can cut out many at a time. From MFT: Die-namics Open Hexagon Borders
