Is anyone having trouble getting the new SU Clear-Mount Stamps to cling to the acrylic block? I just got mine today and was so excited to start playing with them. I followed the directions on the box for mounting the index label and when I placed it on my acrylic, it slid right off. I cleaned both surfaces and still no luck. I even held the stamp to the acrylic for a few seconds like the package suggests and it still wouldn't stick. I tried using a stamp I hadn't mounted the label to yet and it stuck beautifully. What gives???
They stick really, really well without the index stickers. If you use the index stickers, you have to press really hard on the block for a couple of seconds. They do work, just not that great, in my opinion. You don't really have to use them. I put them on one set and later removed them just to see how they were. I'm used to using unmounted rubber without an index sticker so I had no intention of using the labels. They are actually better than some cling you can buy elsewhere but still not as good as bare cling mount.
Some people are not having good luck with the stickers. I have no idea why because some of them are experienced UM users and do know what they're doing.
Like monkeygirl, I don't use optional stickers (no matter the brand), so it's not an issue with me.
I feel I get good enough placement just by looking through the block. If placement is critical, I use a stamp-a-ma-jig.
I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy SU is offering clingmounted rubber and clear blocks!!!!

I haven't had any trouble with the stamps. I did try a sticker on one and it wouldn't stick to the inside of the case. I have read that you have to press them onto the block with a firm hand and then they are fine. I did not use the stickers on mine and they have been great.
I wonder why SU is not printing images directly on the back of the cling mount (like Hero Arts does). That would alleviate much of the problem, I think.

This type of mounting system is new for them, so I'm sure they're still open to input on possible changes -- maybe if enough people suggest the same thing, they'll try it. It's worked before!

Mine are working perfectly fine and that is with the stickers. I am in the middle of making hundreds of Valentine's Day cards to send to Iraq. I have the same stamp stuck to the same block for the last two days and it's not fallen off at all. I followed the directions to a t and it is working as it say. I am glad I didn't have a problem, because I need to stamp the saying many times.

I don't have any yet but I wondered about this when I read that they came with stickers to put onto the cling mount. It depends on what material the stickers are made out of. If they are made out of the same material as other stickers, I don't see how they would stick very well to the blocks.
I'm very glad I read this thread! When my new stamps come this week I will not be putting the labels on them. It would break my heart to not be able to use the "I Fancy You" squirrel from the occasions mini right away!
I used them last week (with the labels) and they worked fine, and a bunch of used many of the stamps in the set and none of them fell off or had trouble staying on the block that I recall. I thought it was great to have that sticker on there to see what stamp was what.
It must have something to do with local climate and humidity. Individual homes can be different too with the type of heating used-gas, electric, heating oil, wood stove, etc. I'm crossing my fingers that the stickers will work well for me-I'm getting several sets in my next order.
Edited to add: I got the new stamps and they stick fine with the labels attached. I make sure the blocks and labels are clean and press the blocks onto the stamps. I also use a light hand when cleaning them on the scrubber.

You can use any clear blocks that you want to. I love the new clear-mount option!! I've been doing this to my SU stamps for a while anyway, I cut the image sticker and stick it to the back of the stamp. Then I put a little bit of Aileen's Tack It Over and Over mixed with a little water on the sticker. I let that dry over night and they cling wonderfully!! So to ensure stickiness on my new ones, which I want the image sticker on, I am also putting the ATIO&O on them too!!
I'm so happy I'm not the only one having this problem! I think Cindy in OR is onto something because I got my stickered clear mounts to stick to the block by getting them wet! I didn't lick them! :P But, gee, I might as well.
I am not use to not having an image, like everyone else seems to be. Nor would any of my customers. :( But I definitely do not want to use the stickers from now on.
I've been experimenting with scraps before I put the image sticker on the foam. So far, mine has been clinging to the case very well! I've tried putting in on dry -- which holds well -- and huffing on the sticker to put a little moisture on -- which holds well.
I'll be watching this thread for a while before I commit to the stickers!

I have found that huffing on the block before putting on the stamp has helped keep it on. I also press on them when I put them back in the case and that helps keep them in place. Love theese stamps.

Ohhhhh, good idea! Yes, I was just looking at Hero Arts and they are printed right on the cling.

I've always used Tack'N'Peel. I only needed 1 package for all of my blocks. I've made all of my SU stamps UM by using this product. It has a strong hold.

Not sure if anyone posted this yet, as I did not read every post (please forgive me), but try huffing on the sticker before you put it on the block, or swiping it with a baby wipe then drying it off. Hopefully, SU will come up with a solution to these *unsticky* stickers before long because I really like seeing the image when I stamp.

I've never used this glue, and I had never thought of doing this. So my brain started to wonder: could you just put the Tack it Over and Over on your acrylic blocks instead, so that you wouldn't have to do this for each stamp?
To those of you who have said that Hero Arts prints their image directly on the cling...they actually have a sticker on the back that the image is printed on. They cling just fine though. I'll be following this thread (and others that might pop up) re. this issue with SU sets.
Mine do work fine with the stickers, I just need to press a bit harder to get the to stick.
I had heard some folks had trouble with them before I bought them, but i really wanted to use the stickers. So I was planning on using Aleen's tack it over and over on them if I had a problem. Don't know if it was already mentionedm but it may work for those who are having a hard time. I find Aleen's glues to be inexpensive and one bottle goes a long way.
I had never used unmounted before SU started offering the clear mounts. I order a few of the new sets as unmounted and applied the stickers according to the instructions. While the stamps do not always stay stuck to the inside of the box, I have had absoluately no probelms with them sticking/clinging to the clear blocks when I've gone and stamped with them.
OH..I put the stickers on mine and use other acrylic blocks I already had. Mine are not giving me ANY problems in the sticking to the blocks department. I am sorry some are having some issues because I love this new method from SU and will order all of them in the unmounted form that are offered that way from now on. blessings.
glad I happened to stop in here!
I just bought the H.A. poppies background (LOVE it) but was disappointed about the not-so-stickyness that was happenning.
I just tried the huffing on the block and wha-la problem solved.
I tried both ways... with sticker & w/out. Without definitely works better. With I really had to work with it and it kinda stayed on, but not so much in the DVD case. Anyway...
I came up with something that I am really excited about (boy that sounds lame). I took the labels and placed them on the dvd case and placed the stamp either on or close to the spot on the dvd case that the sticker label is located. I like to see what is missing and what the stamp is. It is awesome!!! YEEEEHAAAA.8-)
