I have a question, what are your favorite cardstock SU! colors? I want to participate in the color challenges on this site and wanted to know the colors that you buy on a regular basis or the colors that you always have on hand? I just bought old olive and rose red and confetti for my Christmas cards and I really love the quality of SU!'s card stock and just wondered what colors you all buy.
tia!
Here are the ones I always seem to gravitate towards. I didn't realize it, but I see a trend...
Mellow Moss
Sage Shadow
Certainly Celery
Night of Navy
Basic Black
Whisper White
My advice would be to get the assorted packs and see which colors you use the most and then get individual packs of those colors.
As far as what colors I use most, Mellow Moss, Perfect Plum, Real Red, Basic Black, Basic Gray, Whisper White, Very Vanilla, So Saffron, Certainly Celery and Tempting Turqoiuse. (Whew, that was hard to pick, I love them all!)

Lately I have been hooked on Riding Hood Red, I have no idea why.
But mostly bought colors for me are:
Chocolate chip ( a lots of it)
Old Olive
Bashful Blue
Pretty in Pink
Riding Hood Red (or Real Red)
So Saffron
Kraft, white, vanilla, black (those are necessities)
Basic Grey
Pumpkin Pie

The colors I could not live without are
Kiwi Kiss (will retire in August :( )
chocolate chip
pumpkin pie
bashful blue
rose red
so saffron
tempting turquoise
real red
certainly celery
basic black
***also like
night of navy
elegant eggplant (or perfect plum)
apricot appeal
barely banana
I'd also suggest to get a paper pack of each of them and when you get close to using up a color order that color only.
How could I ever forget about Chocolate Chip?! That is a total must have!

Another vote for the assorted packs. I've been using SU products for about 10 months. The other posters are right on - with the assorted packs you will quickly determine which colors are your favorites and then you can buy packs of those colors. To start I would recommend an assorted pack of the current in colors and an assorted pack of neutrals.

Also you're correct - SU paper is wonderful!
Becky is right..that's exactly what I did when I started using SU cardstock.
My favorites are:
chocolate chip
pumpkin pie
tempting turquise
real red
night of navy
creamy caramel
barely banana
I also started out with the variety packs from all the families and then as I got low on the colors I bought the individual colors, I also have a great demo and some of the colors that I like but don't use all the time we split a pack in half so that I didn't have to get the variety pack. I have all the colors and last years and this years in colors. Right now my favorite colors are:
Chocolate Chip
Pink Piroutte
Pacific Point
Tempting Turquise
and the rest as my mood hits.
Another vote for variety packs - it is hard for me to pin down a fave - it would probably be easier to tell you my least favorites
Here are the ones I gravitate the most towards
Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust, Real Red, Taken with Teal, Regal Rose, Ballet Blue, Certainly Celery, Almost Amethyst, and I like all the In Colors
I also started with the assorted packs. My husband ran across some literature sorters at an auction and bought several. I labeled them with the SU Labels that were available at that time, and started buying colors "seasonally." Then, I began to use my hostess benefits to stock paper.
My sweet husband realized that there was no hope of my recovery from "Paperitis," and paid the cose of my demo enrollment. He is presently working on my stamping "room." His addiction is antique sales, and he has bought several type cases to display some of my collector stamps, and done a "tray ceiling" with guttering to display my favorite retired SU sets. He is about the only thing I own that I would not "swap" for paper.
I also started out buying assorted packs and then bought my favorites that I used the most. Besides black and white, I've bought full packages of:
tempting turquoise
real red
brilliant blue
lovely lilac
creamy caramel
close to cocoa
choc. chip
always artichoke (love that color!)
elegant eggplant
taken with teal
night of navy
regal rose
rose red
ballet blue
brocade blue
certainly celery
pretty in pink
bashful blue
and pretty in pink
Wow, didn't expect that list to be that long. My next order I'm going to be adding ruby red and blush blossom to that list. I made a card recently with those two colors with close to cocoa and now that's my favorite combo.
I bought the in colors last year, but for the most part I'm staying away from that trend. I don't like getting colors that I won't be able to buy a year from now, that's just how I am.

I am using a lot of this years in colors - Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, and a TON of Baja Breeze. I also use a lot of previous in colors, Soft Sky, Cool Caribbean. I use a lot of Chocolate Chip, too.

Well, I am just about ready to place my order...thank you so much ladies for sharing your favorite cardstock colors. I think the majority like chocolate chip. I know I do as well.
Well, I've decided to take some of your advice. I am planning on placing an order for Earth Elements card stock and then a couple of colors that I like and have purchased in the past. Apparently, I am having or was having a blonde moment there for some time..I have in the past purchased a few of the assorted packs but just never realized what one's I used the most..so I will begin again lol
Well, ALL OF THEM! LOL
Geez, Real red, barely banana, artichoke, choc chip, summer sun, bashful blue, ww, night of navy, really rust, more mustard............and the list goes on.

Of course everyone is going to give you a different answer because we all have our own tastes and styles. But what I use the most of anything is chocolate chip. Second would be close to cocoa then certainly celery. I also really like mellow moss, old olive, apricot appeal, ruby red. Well, I realized I could go on and on. All the new in-colors are pretty cool too. But of course, you should only buy what you would actually use.
One good way to start might be to buy each color family's variety pack. This is how I got my first cardstock. You get 3 sheets of each color so you can see them in person and decide what you like and don't like.

Thank you! That seems to be the consensus...everyone seems to agree that the variety/assorted packs of paper is the way to go...
Another vote for the assorted packs. I started with them and built from there. Great value. My additions have been:
Kraft (awesome base for so many other colors)
Riding Hood Red (LOVE IT!)
Pink Pirouette (This is a great color. I have used it for every kind of card, including Christmas)
Old Olive
Kiwi Kiss (when I want a little more of a color pop)
Chocolate Chip
So many more, but these tend to be the first I reach for.

I love every color (except Blush Blossom -- still have sheets from 2000). Try the assorted packs to see which ones you love and then order full single color packs of your top 5 or so, plus some white, vanilla, black, gray and sand or kraft. You will be surprised with what you will be creating!

I do own at least two full packages of each color. As I open a package I order a new one to keep my stock up. I am starting to gather up to 4 each of the in colors packages because too soon they will be GONE..... I miss some of the old colors.
I not only have a good stock of SU but the same for Papertrey...love their colors...
Blessings.
I too vote on the assorted packs of paper. I think it has 3 each?? Anyway I started off that way and then ordered full packs of the ones that I found I was using. I like having the 3 sheets (ok 6, cuz I ordered 2 pkgs of each LOL) of the ones that are not my favorites as they make good accent colors. I do keep my SU! c/s scraps separately from my other scraps. I'm becoming a SU! c/s snob. I keep trying to use up my stash of other c/s but don't like the weight of it...may have to go to DD for school projects (but there is just SOOO much of it )
I started out with the assortment packs and ordered the colors I used the most:
Real Red
Basic Black
Whisper White
Very Vanilla
Old Olive
Certainly Celery
Chocolate Chip
Pretty and Pink
My personal faves are chocolate chip, not quite navy, real red, night of navy, certainly celery and bashful blue. I use confetti white cardstock to stamp EVERYTHING, and use it to mount photos also...love the cardstock!
